Officially a V1 owner...

Well I grabbed a V1 (1.8 minus POP) for a great price, and will give it a shot.
If it falses more than I can handle, I'll stick with my 9500i, and I'll throw the V1 on Craigslist for a fair price.

V1 fanatics, any pointers on the best settings for city driving besides turning off X?
I read the Newbie stickie about programming but had trouble understanding it

Actually the V1 is one of the simplest RDs to program. Its more or less like a bunch of dip switches. Each feature is represented by a different number or letter, and the up arrow is on and the down arrow is off. Very simple. Youll get the hang of it very fast. Unfortunately i havnt had mine long enough to offer any real world tips on HOW to program it, but everyones different, run with it on default for a while and see what you want on or off to suit your needs.

coming from a detector that still falses on occasions (not using TrueLock) I'm hoping to attempt to minimize the extra falsing with the V1 and still be able to see/experience the superior detection everyone talks about

No Pop??? that's really super. You might want to sell off your 9500i and buy 10 shares of some GM stock with the money you get for that detector...

I think you're serious but Im not sure. It is good that I grabbed one without POP right. I'm looking for the least falseswith better detection if that's possible

you should send it back to VR to get it tuned up because i doubt its at its max sensitivity now since its old

my car is escort hardwired. If I understand correctly, it'll power the
V1 fine, but I won't be able to program it? Is that correct? If so, I could program it before with the V1 cord then plug into the Escort hardwire. Will the escort mute button work to mute he V1? If not, is there a mute on the unit itself?
