Laser Falsing from the Sun?

I've had my V1 for about a year. Not totally thrilled one way or the other and have a few minor gripes, but it's worked OK up until the last few weeks.

I drive straight east in the AM to work and obviously straight west on the return drive home. All of a sudden, the thing is contastly falsing when the sun is directly in front, low on the horizon, and hitting the unit. The second I get shade from a tree for example, it stops, only to start right back up the second the sun hits it again. This is driving me nuts!

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Had a similar issue with my old Uniden. I covered the laser sensor when I was in those situations where I'd be facing sun. Not the best solution...

I've found shutting it off solves the problem too, but that kind of defeats the purpose...

Where is your V1 located on your windshield? High, low, on the visor? A different spot, such as up on the visor, might help.

Sun by itself shouldn't cause a laser false, but sun glinting or reflecting off something at a rate comparable to a laser gun's pulse rate could cause a false. Moving the detector to another spot might help. Putting it up on the visor might help keep the sun off it somewhat.

It's suction cup mounted near the top of the windshield. This has been mounted here in the same place since day one, and only in the last couple of weeks has this been happening.

Try readjusting the location because it might be a reflection somewhere. If that doesn't work, it's time to send it in for repairs and possibly upgrade the version of software running. I have had similar problems with a few older models including Beltronics and Uniden.

I have a brand new unit and this is happening to me as well. I have a C6 Vette and have mounted the V1 at the top of the window directly behind the rear view mirror. Then I have the remote display over in the drivers area so I can see it. I have gotten about 3 false laser reports in the 2 weeks I have had the unit.

Same here,

Tends to happen when the sun is angled low in the sky and you are facing directly towards it.

Its a small price to pay for its extreme laser sensitivity, IMHO.

If I mount my V1 mid-windshield I can get laser falses from behind when the sun is low on the horizon and I'm driving east. For some reason it doesn't happen to me when I'm driving toward the sun.

Let be clear: The unit has been in the same exact location for the last year, driving under the same exact conditions. Only in the last few weeks has this been occurring.

I guess I will send it in for the Pop upgrade. However, I thought it was $45 or $50 last time time I looked. Now, they evidently have a European addition as well, for a grand price of $75. What good is the European deal? Is this optional?
