Quick question - direct wiring

Decided to replace my x50 with V1. x50 is hardwired in.. My question is : Do I have to replace hardwire kit with V1 cabling? I plugged my othe V1 and it powered up just fine. (the other hardwire cable came from Escort)

LOL. You already answered your own question when you plugged the other V1 to test it. The cords are interchangeable for direct hard wire. Smart cords and concealed displays are not. Smart cord will power it, just no other functions.

I called and spoke with V1 customer care and they told me I would have to replace direct wire cable from escort bc it wont work. She said "they" use a 2 channel cord but V1 needs a 4 channel..

Told her V1 powered up fine but she insists that "certain functions" wont work.

Just what fire65 and slap said, Pos/Neg are in the same place so you can power up V1 however the V1 uses the two other leads for data and if your Escort has four leads then two are backwards to V1's data so you will not be able to mute or change modes on a V1.

Would be nice if someone would come up with a simple adapter that reverses data leads, you could make your own if you are handy with reconnecting RJ11 leads and simply cross the data leads.

With the direct wire you can change settings and everything... The direct wire is the one without the mute button...
