I have a V1 for both my bikes. I mounted it in the top of my tankbag with the map pocket folded back so the front of the detector has a clear view forward(for laser reception).
I hardwired direct from the battery and put a dual female phone line adapter from Radio Shack on the both bike's tank. This allows me to leave the V1 seperate headphone box in the tank bag along with the Boostaroo I use to up the volume to my helmet speakers. I can easily disconnect the tank bag and carry all my electronics with me. Plus I just move the tank bag to whichever bike I am going to ride.
Remote display is mounted above the instrument panel.
Only drawback is that it cuts down on rear reception as my body blocks the rear antannae some but very incognito. Also, I have to move the tank bag everytime I fill up with gas. Minor details I can live with for the stealth factor and other conveniences.
Consider searching the motorcycle subforum...
Here is my old install (had to sell the bike): http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...-rd-setup.html
BTW, I upgraded to the 9500i so it would stop beeping insanely loud at stoplights.
Also, does anyone know why my thread is closed?
alright thanks.
I dont know i might not even add anything. Maybe just a jammer and thats it.
I'm currently trying to get it mounted on my 07 Night Train.
I already wired it up so it does the remote display via bluetooth (using a tiny circuit and a serial-to-bluetooth module from aircable). I've been integrating that into my Nokia internet tablet which I already use for GPS (at 10Hz!, and my Harley's J1850 datastream - all logged to an SD card but I need to work on speeding up the display - the V1 state is logged too).
I'll post the bluetooth interface details when I get a chance.
Right now, I have to find a good place to mount the V1. There isn't a lot of space left on my handlebars and the laser detector diode needs to see through whatever I use. The antenna isn't symmetrical so I don't know if I can put it sideways or upside down and still get the same range. It would help if there was a mirror image version (with the rear horn on the left).

I can't post links until I have a few more posts.
Here are my 12MP images:
www, zdez, org has V1-opened.jpg shows the front so you can see the horn and the LED.
100_0100.JPG shows my bluetooth setup. I pulled out the circuit board from an aircable.net serial 3 (set to 19200 baud).
100_0101.JPG and 100_0102.JPG show the circuit. It is a standard NPN transistor from Radio Shack (2N3904?), two 4.7k, and one 10k resistor. This pulls up the data line (blanking the built-in display) and inverts the pulses.
The red wire is 12v which goes to both 4.7k resistors. The green is ground which goes to the emitter of the transistor. The 10k goes to the base of the transistor. The other end of the first 4.7k goes to the collector of the transistor and the data out to the Aircable (yellow), the second to the data line of the V1 (yellow) and the other end of the 10k.
I'll try to do a diagram later, but it is based on other diagrams I've found on the internet, e.g. kc8unj has a schematic and mp3car's wiki and guysoflidar has a pdf with the protocol.
