Default v1 break to try the passport

so i picked up a passport to run for fun, and i have to say i'm quite impressed with the range of this thing. Got it for 149 bucks refurb from escort and its the not the x50. Ran into about 5 cops tonight and they all run 35.5 or 35.4 around my house. I picked up one on a straight road heavy populated with buildings about 2 miles from when i hit the od, but he was traveling 50 mph at me also. Then there was two 35.5 by my house and picked it up well before i seen them and they were hidden in between buildings. But just didn't think I'd see this kind of performance.

The orignal Escort 8500 is the best "bang for the buck" radar detector on the planet. It performs especially well against 35.5 Ka. It hangs right with the V1 on that particular frequency. Against other frequencies, you'll probably see a larger performance separation.

I dunno. I just gave another new V1 a one week test drive and it was very underwelming on 34.7 Ka. I've had better results with the 8500 S7. So back to Valentine it goes and I'll be hitting EscortRadar up for another 8500 or X50 for a backup to the RedLine.

Oh, come on now. You only gave it a week. You know how these things go. A weeks worth of underwhelming detection distances does not a bad detector make. You also know that there are mountains of data that show the V1 to be a better performer than the Belscort S7s against 34.7 Ka.

Having ran the V1 for about three months I've seen some sick range. It would be hard to say the 8500 would beat the v1 on k and certain ka. And the v1 is really good against instant on. I mean there is a price difference for a reason. But if your looking for a backup id def take the 8500 on a trip and feel mostly safe. I think when I save up I want the redline. LeOs basically only run 35.5 around my house. I've only seen a couple times something else.

In general, the V1 is better than the 8500 against X, K, 33.8 Ka and 34.7 Ka. The 8500 is better than the V1 against 35.5 Ka. 35.5 Ka is the V1's kryptonite. It's not terrible against it, but there is definitely a gap between the V1's 35.5 Ka performance(especially off-axis) and the V1's performance on every other frequency.

What band of C/O Ka does the CHP run? Does the V1 pick that up good? I know the Redline does an excellent job at that.

All around my house they use 35.5. And when i have my V1 running it does decent...off axis is a little iffy...sometimes it'll go off like right when i'm on top of him...scary. But other then that it detects really really far :-)
