    Default v1.9 speculation thread

I was wondering if any of you guys have asked VR and got answers about what will be in the upcoming v1.9, or any educated guesses what VR will do on the next upgrade? let the speculation begin..and maybe some facts.
    thanks

Improved KA instant on detection rate, improved pop detection, and decreased falsing is what I'm thinking will happen.

Doubt it. I really don't see any room for the improvement of the instant on "detection rate" as it currently stands right now.

If you're talking about "response time" in milliseconds, they could easily reduce this time if they wanted to. But then the user would be bombarded with Ka false alerts from the harmonics of the sweeping LO's of all of the cheap detectors on the road, while gaining a better response of only milliseconds.

Possibly. They pretty much have 67ms POP down, but 16ms POP is a tough nut to crack, we might see some improvements here.

Doubt it. "Falsing" is basically detecting other devices operating on the same frequencies as police radar (X and K band), and the signals are electronically identical. Bottom line, there is no way to reduce "falsing" without potentially damaging your protection against real police radar threats.

For them to increment the version to 1.9, there would have to be a major hardware change (Euro Mode didn't do it, and this required some minor hardware changes). I don't know that any of the above would qualify.

What might qualify, and is most likely in my opinion, is Spectre immunity.

thanks for the input and quick response...I'd like to see RDD immunity as well...

When i spoke to the techs of Valentine on the phone to complain about my V1 not picking up out of tune KA photo radars, one other issue we spoke about was the laser falsing.

He said they have some neon lights and other stuff that yield false laser alerts in their lab and they are finding ways to try and prevent the V1 from falsing laser when it sees neon lights and other similar stuff. This could be one of the improvements you could expect.

cosmetic changes. 1.7 >> 1.8 changed so 1.8 >> 1.9 will see change as well.

Do they have an Infiniti FX35 in their lab? I'd love to see them solve that falsing problem.

Falsing... well two things would have to happen for that to go away. 1. Cobra has to stop making RDs and everyone with a Cobra or Uniden have to toss their RDs... and 2. radar-operated door openers would have to disappear as well (whatever happened to the good old pressure plate to open doors?)

Spectre immunity, 16ms POP detection, and slightly improved Ka band range.

how about charge an extra $100 for the detector and then have it user-upgradable, with a mini-USB port to upgrade the firmware yourself, or roll back in the event of a bug that SERIOUSLY affects the performance, save settings (for quick loading depending on the area you're traveling), etc.
