Default Dash Gauges That Match My RD!

So I have a Jetta 2.5S as my rental car while the 6 is getting its wrinkles ironed out. Slow, but still a fun little ride. And the dash gauges are BLUE...so they match my Pro-78 quite nicely. Crappy cellphone pics, but you get the idea. It's a silly, aesthetic thing, but it made me grin a bit.

Yup... I'll be sporting my Pro-78 in my Jetta TDI when I get it back from Michael B. Sporty car and 40MPG; hard to beat that these days.

Michael B. said that it was most likely a heat issue that caused me problems (Ka alert staying on for 10 miles). He said that it was missing an absorber under the shield and this may have caused your issue at a particular temperature or after the unit had been on for a while. He installed an absorber and tested it and it didn't have any issues.

I also asked him since it did appear to be a heat issue and since I'm lazy and don't take it down when I'm parked at work, how much heat these things could take. He said that it should be fine up to about 175F.

In general, is it better to take the RD down when parked in the sun, or does it not really matter? I figured that it could take the heat, but now I'm not sure.

I wouldn't take the chance leaving it baking in the sun. It only takes a few seconds to pull it down and store it in the glove box or center console.

A good detector belly rub after a great save always makes the detector happy too!!! (yeah thats pretty creepy isn't it?)

Point is, take care of it and it will take care of you!

I love how it matchs the gauges on that car!

I just wish they offered a red LED version as my car has all red backlight gauges! ahhhh oooo well.
