A radar detector wont save you from laser 99% of the time. If you are concerned about rear laser, mount the detector in line of sight with the back windshield

Mount it on the front windshield. Rear laser shots are also usually at "point blank" range, so the beam is so narrow, it is almost impossible to detect anyhow. But, as stated above, no RD will consistently save you from laser. You need a laser jammer for that.

Laser is pretty useless. Instead of the unit saying "laser" during a hit, it should say "You are getting a ticket". You will benefit way more by targeting Radar which means up front, mounted up high. I dunno where you live, but radar is usually much more common.

Only real defence against laser is cutting down on LIDAR signature and having a V1, or having a jammer.

Yeah, you'll receieve the laser signal alright. In the form of a ticket. It is very rare for you to get an advance warning of laser. That diverging 3 milliaradian beam gives out little to no scatter, even on the best of conditions.

Although lower than a V1 in sensitivity (I have a Pro 78), it does a fairly good job in spotting laser, use a laser jammer though if you can.

I have no idea where you live, but I highly doubt they only use rear laser.
