    What the heck is that?
Did it seriously say that on the display??? Am I the only one who wants to know what this means?

And as far as performance, my XTR-695 feels like it has a VERY directional antenna PLUS it has good days and bad days. Sometimes Ka-band alerts are good. Sometimes they are marginal at best. K-band detection distances are usually on par with Ka-, but below the K-band performance of my 1793SE. The X-band performance is just plain pitiful no matter what the situation.

And before somebody says send it in, I already did and my XTR-695 was given a clean bill of health. I originally got it as a gift for my sister... but since then we've switched because she lives in NJ and I live in a K/Ka-band dominant state. Immediately after I gave it to her she got her first ever speeding ticket... never a problem when she had the Cobra ESD-7000. That's how bad the XTR-695's X-band detection is.

I have to do some more testing, and maybe video as well this time. I've only did K-band testing so far.

I asked Mike B about the event Jig Mode and the went to No--Ramp Up and he adv that is a setting that is used for tuning and testing and you have to push multiple buttons while powering on to get that but I have mine wired to accessory power. I don't have to push buttons...Soon as I turned on my car instead of it saying whistler and going through the start up that was what was displayed. Why I am not sure and it has not done it again.

I am sending my 78se and 690se both in just to have them looked at....I wont ship until I have back up detector in place which is the Refurb 8500 I ordered that will be here tomorrow....I really would like my 78se back the way it was at first....I had great range and very little falses.

I'd be interested in that button combination

I know how to access the Jig mode, I can make a video
I figured it out but don't know what good it does to access it.

Hopefully we are not tuning out our RD's ! My Pro 78 has been a superb detector with some slight issues like LCC laser falsing. I will do some testing on a SE soon as i purchase one.

I don't see how I could be untuning my RD...I got the message without doing anything. It wasn't till Mike B made his comment about buttons that I figured it out.

I came across this a few years ago while trying to do a factory reset. Let us know what Mike B says about your detectors. I also think LEO's are getting very smart sine RD users have doubled in the last 10 years so they use selective Instant on and quick triggering or Constant on with there antennas facing down on the dash then whip it up to get your speed

I think its important to note some radar guns are on a swivel and they can point in all directions. Some of which I have seen cop cars in parking lots where the radar gun was on but sitting in the passenger seat. As far as the swivel goes I have seen the guns point in all different directions when there not clocking. Pulled up to a light the cop car next to me his was angle hard right and he was on the cell phone like they always are. You could tell clocking people was the furthest thing from his mind. I have found the best range like always you will get from a whistler and a v1 and or bell is when there is a real direct threat pointed your way.

Trying to play the game if I can or cannot see him when the detector goes off. Is not the correct game to play. To many of us play that game when we see a cop on the other side of a divided highway coming towards us. The correct game to play is when its a real honest situation and a cop is clocking everybody on your side for a ticket. You can bet his radar gun is then properly mounted and is aiming correctly. At least one would hope from their training. The question then becomes did you get correct adequate time to slow down from your detector in a real situation. Hopefully the answer is yes.

To many of us driving in the real world try to use cops in general locations in which we reference radar detection. This should remain strictly as a extremely rough estimation. Because we don't know the setup of the radar gun is at that moment.

Otherwise you will go berserk trying to figure out why things are good one day and bad the next.

The important thing to do is wait till you get a real threat then make your assumptions and opinion off of that.

I have had so many times where i see the cop car first and 2 or 3 seconds later my V1 goes off. Bad range yes but does it mean factors played into it outside the V1 control yes. Does it mean something wrong with my unit no.

    Regarding the JigMode:

Trying to comute to test off by pressing different buttons, like I did at Pro58 (unfortunately I forgot I have an option in the setup menu on my xtr-695), I entered also in the JigMode menu.

So, you can enter this mode by pressing Quiet and City at the same time with pluging the power cord.

You enter in a menu where you can move by pressing Quiet and adjust options by using volume wheel.

Practically you can go to No Ramp-up at X/K sweep, Ka sweep, Short Ka (1 and 2) or to Allsweep mode on. After this I just plug off the power cord...

Logically, I think the unit should be at Allsweep on mode; when reach this last setting the unit double beeps.

I really hope I will not find that I already "tuned" my 695!

In terms of range I've noticed I have almost the same detection range from the begining (not very satisfied with it for a couple of weeks of using it) but I have little to none false alarms on Ka, compared with a few from cheap detectors received before.

Did you received further information regarding this issue?

    Thank you.
