    Default Strange Encounter

Had an very interesting encounter today, and after it happened I finally decided to just create an account here just to ask.

As I was driving down the 60 East, something I've never experienced happened w/ the v1. Three lines, the laser bulb (the first of the 4 bands), euro siren, a full strength bar (all 8 lights), and the back arrow went off. I assumed it was an LEO using an laser gun, but the funny thing is, it was raining and the v1 kept going on and off randomly for about 45 seconds.

I got home and googled up some info, and it tells me that it requires a good clear weather for the lidar to work properly, and that the person operating the lidar needs to be stationary, but the signal followed me for almost an minute.

This ever happen to any of you? Or am I missing something you all probably know lol

edit: Oh, forgot to mention, it was always the back arrow that lit, never the front

Most likely a vehicle with a laser-assisted adaptive cruise control was behind you. Infinitis (especially FX35/FX45) are notorious for this. Some Toyota, Lexus and Volvos have it too.

    Very annoying.

actually, I thought about it some more, the lidar could have been on the other side of the freeway, and going at 75mph, 45sec is slightly under a mile, so I could have maybe passed the LEO, then he started spamming it to no ends, and it threw me off for a while cause of the massive range the v1 has? lol is this even confirmable? Cause I never once saw the LEO

If the v1 detects laser or laser scatters, does it always go off at full strength even being far away?

wouldnt it be either very consistent or just once on the RD if this was the case? or does it go off randomly for you too?

That depends on various factors, such as the location of your V1 and how close or far the LCC-equipped vehicle was following you. It can also depend on if there are any cars between you and the LCC vehicle, which can and will partially block the beam. If he's far enough back that your V1 gets a "clear view" of him and he stays the same distance you could get a continuous alert. But in real life scenarios (bumps, hills, varying traffic conditions) this is rare.

If you're hit with Laser it'll always be full strength on the V1.

that's what i figured from forums and youtube videos, but i just couldnt figure out how it chased me for almost a minute.

if the v1 pick up scatters, does it automaticly go full strength even if its far?

Yes, there's no "signal strength" shown for laser, it's always a full-tilt alert. It's due to the nature of laser.
