Default XR-950 AUNZ (v995) detection range problem

i noticed that my detection on speed cameras is pretty poor, such that it is reviled by RX-55 for range.

the other day i got like 20-50 meters warning, the camera was is a van hidden behind a some bush on the side of the road in a 100km\h zone. (this would be similar to a around the bend test.)

there other time was a over the hill scenario where i got to the top of it before it gave me a alert, i got the alert before i saw the camera but it was only between 20-50 meters.

i have been going other opposite direction with my RX-55 and its kept beeping until im about 100-150 meters over the same hill.

its running firmware 3.9 which is probably different to the US models.

i was thinking that it could be the antenna, i also read about some people having problems with their STi and 995s due to using the car ignition to power the radar on. im guilty of this.

they suggested resetting it to factory which i've done, so ill have to wait and see next time i see a camera (auto-patrol PR-100 i think).

used to see them all the time but since i got a new RD i never see them.

anyway what are your thoughts \ experiences with this?

also is someone from NZ has had their Bel RD sent in could you tell me where any how thanks.

The NZ cameras are a low powered radar outside the 3 main US freqs similarly to the European photo radars. The Vector series and the RX series were never made specifically for detecting these radars. You need something with Ka band selection. Unfortunately Ka narrow detectors will miss your stalkers 34.7 The best bet to date is the STi-R where you can select the bands you want on in the Ka range.

Try mounting your radar vertically (on is side) and see if that increases the range on your cameras.
