Yes that's right. I am trying a second ix.
I really wanted the ix to work like advertised, but it's not.
Plus when running one unit at a time, the V1 gives me 1.1 miles warning to a K band drone that I pass 3 times per week. This morning the brand new ix gave me .08 miles warning on the same drone.
I am not a V1 homer by far, I just wanted to give both a chance, and I felt I might not have given the ix a fair shot last time. Numbers don't lie. V1 is the hands down winner in my book.
I am glad Escort is trying to advance the technology. I take my hat off to them for that. However I don't want to pay 499.00 plus 49.95 for "the gold package" for a product that is a work in progress.

"Chris positioned himself perpendicular to the road like a T as a cop would. He shot K across the road from a forward dash mounted remote antenna (Chris feel free to chime in what Brands and Bands) at about half way on the test road that was 3/4 mile long.

I drove past and locked out the constant on. When I came back, the GX locked out the signal. "

The other factor as you bring up, the cop would have to know the freq of the door and almost sit in the same spot then start shooting. Most cops barely use I/O as it is do you think they will ever go to this extreme, NEVER......... then you have to figure that every detector user has the i or ix or other GPS detector etc. So, in theory it tru/auto lock works you will need lots of work to beat it out.

no it is not any different, The door k band radar unit's do not drift I have the specs for them .they use the same diodes that the k band radar guns use. they also put out 5mw of power. they are usually tuned for center of the band 24.150, some are slightly off and radar guns are the same way. YOU do not know what you are talking about , you can only speculate on door openers. I work for the company that builds them. I also worked for kustom signals for 10 years building falcon radar guns

So, the V1's range on K is def better huh.

Didn't you do the trade in program for the first ix, which they would give you 80 bucks?

But...............remember GPS is also used to positioning, there many factors to a lock out that the units use, not just freq. or freq shift.

I have to contend some of this. I agree with the drift. Most of my false alerts are the same frequency, at the same place, all the time. The door openers might put out the same 5mw of power, but that does not translate to the same signal strength as seen by a RD. Rarely are door openers pointed straight down the road. They are usually perpindicular in fact, greatly reducing the signal down the road of travel. Also, door openers are pointed downward, as opposed to straight, which makes sense, since their job is to react to those entering and exiting the store, not cars driving through the parking lot. The signal output of a radar gun and a door opener might be the same, but the signal strength of the two sources when detected by a RD is rarely the same. So, for Truelock testing purposes, these two signals are not the same.

come over to my house I will set a new door opener on the fence and face the antenna down the block and you will get a mile out of it. Door openers face the antennas down at the ground. not straight into the parking lot. the antenna doesn't have the same gain as a circular polarized antenna(police) the antenna that is used in k band door openers are vertical. at a distance on a weak door opener turn you'r detector sideways ans you will see the signal go up a couple of db

No, I was not going to trade in my old detector until I new for sure I was going to keep the ix.

But yes they would have given me 80.00 for my old Bel.
I don't care at this point if they gave me the ix for free.
I wanted peace and quite while driving and alerting me when I had a real threat.
I want it to work as advertised.
I don't see how anyone can say they feel protected or secure with truelock in it's current state.
I look at it like buying a hand gun. I know if I ever have to use my Glock in a life a death situation, when I pull the trigger it's going to go bang! That is why I bought a Glock.
I want the same feeling with my detector.

Again, Escort absolutely told me on the phone, that the K band drone that I speak of on the interstate, the ix would lock out, but if an actual LEO was sitting there, the ix would be able to tell the difference and alert me. I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THAT INFO. We all know at this point that is not the case.
