What Hype? And you still didn't list under what conditions. It was compared against RD's in the same $$$ range.

If you expect it to be as good as the x50 or rx-65 or the V1 or the 995 your crazy. I'd say no way from what I have read here. But I have read more good than bad on the 795. I haven't been dissappointed with it so I don't what what you are expecting to hear. Maybe you had a bad one or was driving in such a way that the 100 dollar detector couldn't help you.

    I don't know.

What I do know is that for 100 bucks this detector doesn't give me alot of falses and it gives me enough time to slow down if it encounters a LEO.

Once again this is a less than 100 dollar detector, 79 at Radio Shack now. So if someone was looking for a RD in that price range tests say it is the one to get.

Escort 8500 rev 15 and Bel 985 are the same money and would "smoke", "blow the doors off" etc... the Bel E795. Not "falsing" and not "detecting" are the same thing where the Bel E795 is concerned.
Do or do not , there is no try! At least you have the "guts" to respond.

So you are comparing the 795 to a 8500 and a 985. Obviously no one is stupid enough to take your bet with the expectations you've presented.

I'd hope that the 8500 and 985 would outperform the 795. I'd expect that. But to just outright say the 795 doesn't detect you are wrong. I make a bet on that.

It was tested against other radar detectors in the same price range BRAND NEW

The 8500 and 985 are not under $100 brand new.

Used they can be bought for 120 or less! I thought the purpose of this board was to get at the "truth". Another person not ready to put his "money (x50) where his mouth is" . Where are you Boom , Air , or Carlito? To quote the next woman President " You know what I am talking about!".

Looks like you are just posting to create a stir. Good luck with that.

We are getting at tthe truth just not "your" truth.

and you still haven't listed the terms of your bet.

Maybe. Just trying to get Boomerman, Airmoore, and Carlito to commit. I am so tired of them promoting the Bel E795 as a choice. I do not see any GOL members taking me up on my bet!

It is a choice for under 100 bucks. You are gonna give out false information to someone looking for a RD for under 100 bucks just because it doesn't compete with a high priced model? You'll be doing this board no good with that.

I plan on getting either a V1 or STI when I gather enough cash.

In the meantime for what I had the money for, the 795 does it's job.

In the mean time, you could have had a used Escort 8500 for around 120 delivered. That is my point. Newer is not better. It is misleading to believe that a Bel E795 would be a good choice. BTW offer still stands. "That Dog Don't Hunt" and GOL will prove my point. The Poll numbers are also proving my point.

Yes, the 8500 and 985 detectors probably are better...

But you are still comparing a $80-100 detector to a $300 one (8500 brand new). Just because you can get it cheaper used, doesn't change the fact that it was $300 brand new.
