The 2011 King Ranch is one hell of a truck. First time I sat in the air conditioned leather seats blowing ice cold air on my balls I was like AWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do hope you were clothed when you test drove. I know the King Ranch's have nice leather, but damn...

I dunno, I guess the Raptor is pretty cool and all, but if I want something for serious off-road use, it's not going to be that. I optioned out an F-450 XL that's pretty much my dream truck...does a hell of a lot more than the Raptor, and hell, it'll probably go just as far off-road, too.

No, I never said that, and I can't even figure out how you could have read what I wrote and drawn that conclusion.

If anything, you might interpret upstatedoc's post as "calling this truck stupid", but I think that's childish and simplistic...he was just saying that very few people will ever have an opportunity to take advantage of this truck's capabilities.

And for the record, I think the truck is incredibly badass, and I want one. To tow a fully enclosed trailer including a garage for my race car AND a camper for me to sleep in. But most people would never do that, because they don't spend their weekends at racetracks.

I never "offered alternatives" to anything. I just found it amusing that the biggest, baddest diesels from Chevy, Dodge, and Ford (well, technically Chevy, Cummins, and Navistar, but whatever) all produced less torque (up until a few months ago) than a 5-year old Audi diesel and a 5-year old Mercedes gasoline engine.

It's turbocharged. All of the Ford diesel V8s have been turbocharged since 1994.

Was talking about all of the Ford diesels before the 6.7L Scorpion. The Audi produced more horsepower and torque 2005-2010.

Also has a smaller displacement. Just thought I'd mention. For fun.

Not talking about the Q7 and the Super Duty, I'm talking about the V12 TDI and the Powerstroke.

No, I'm using the "OMG GAS HAS MORE TORQUE THAN DIESEL WHAT THE FUUUUUCK?!?!?" argument/observation/head-scratching.

    They're all turbocharged.
They need universal, international standardization of engines. The pinnacle of the fossil fueled IC engine has already been achieved.

LS6's for everything. Compacts, sedans, trucks, semis... They could even use them in spaceships and stuff.

    Just sayin'...

    I think you mean LS7? The LS6 was a hotted up LS1 used in the C5 Z06...

I think they should standardize all trucks on the Ford Scorpion 6.7 or the Audi V12 TDI 6.0, and standardize all cars on the Porsche GT2 RS 3.6

Audi. Yeah, Audi. 500 horsepower, 740 ft-lbs torque. How embarrassing is THAT?

Even worse, Mercedes-Benz had them all beat...because they had the same torque, with even MORE horsepower (612)...on gasoline. Yes, that's right, since 2005 on, you could buy an S-class running on boring old 91-octane pump gas with more torque than Detroit's baddest diesel engine. I would have loved to find some way to attach a proper tow hitch to one of those and go humiliate the Ford boys pulling stumps.

Factory truck engines are designed to pull heavy loads and are tuned very conservatively from the factory. The Audi and Benz are already turned up from the factory. You're comparing apples to oranges. The Audi or Benz trying to pull a heavy load(10K#'s+) is embarrassing. You wanna run unloaded? A 6.4 PSD can make over 600HP/1200TQ to the wheels with just a tune.
