Cosign error is higher in the left lane, not in the right lane, unless he's in the median. If you're 1/4 mile away in the right lane he's shooting you nearly straight on and will get a darn accurate reading. If you're 3 or 4 lanes over, the same distance down the road, you're coming on at an angle and there will be a cosign error. So, speed readings are actually lower the more lanes there are between you and the LEO. Having said that, its still preferable to stay in the right lane... mentally there are expecting speeders to be in the left.

#############################################LEO
Car 1 is in the left lane, 2 in the middle and 3 in the right. LEO is on the right shoulder. All three cars are 1/4 mile down the road. Car 3, in the right has virtually no angle between it and the LEO and therefore little cosign error. Car 1 has a noticeable angle and therefore more cosign error. The closer you are the larger the difference in angles gets.
