Frequency?

When using my escort i noticed you can also see what frequency a band is at. my question is what benifit is that to me. ok its 34.121 frequency. what does that mean to me. why should i care? or whatever frequnecy it displays.

and last question i was driving home with no one else on the free way and a cop was siting in the dark faceing me and i only picked him up .1 to .2 miles away. seems horrible to me. but anyway, how far away can the radar pick me up. if i were speeding i would be screwed wouldnt i?

It is mostly for fun, but the frequency can be used to determine the manufacturer of Ka radar units used in your area.

For example, if you detect radar around 33.8XX, that is MPH Industries Ka frequency, in which case you might think twice about turning off POP since they might have POP-capable units...

The freq. can be kinda fun, but its just a tool. Was it Ka band that you only picked it up at .1-.2 miles? If so, the X50 has had problems detecting Ka or not even detecting it at all.

It helps if you know that they only use Ka in your area, and from only one manufacturer. For example, here in the Orlando area, they only use Ka Stalkers(34.7) So if you get a 35.x or 33.x, then you will know that it is most likely a Cobra.
