Is there any benefit of having the scanning dot on the display or is it just for show? for the passport 8500

Mostly just for show.Originally Posted by dabillzqb8
One small benefit: there have been a few people in the past who have reported that their detector has "frozen", and they've had to cycle power or unplug it and plug it back in to get it working again. The scanning dot let's you know it's working, and isn't frozen.
It's simply showOriginally Posted by dabillzqb8

voltmeter is an alternative if you have an older car the voltage fluxuates and when you step on breaks you'll see the voltage drop so you know the thing is working or if you play the radio loud you'll see it moving like crazyOriginally Posted by Bear-Tweezy
It's all about the scanning + :P I use it primarily to let me know the unit's functional.
No you don't. You only use it because you're a college boy 8)Originally Posted by ELVATO
