The S7 was in the original 8500 and initial X50s the M4 is the new horn that is used in quite a few high end Escort and Bell models.
There is some debate the Old S7 is better than the new M4 But I feel the M4 is designed to be more flexible for different applications and more sensitive to the gradual domination of KA band.

Money, if the M4 is only slightly worse but a lot less expensive it would make sense to switch from a business standpoint.

Thats a big risk to take as a major competitor in the radar industry. I dont think they are out to make a few extra bucks somewhere I read they are 80% of the industry :?

I dont think they need to cut a few dollars and take a chance loosing a customer base with an inferior product.

Ive spent 6 months + with both platforms, very little difference.

Slightly better 35.5 Ka performance with the m4.
Less laser falsing with the m4.
Better over all filtering on the m4 without loss of real threat sensitivity.
Identical K band performance during 12 runs at a speed trailer around 2 bends.

I will say I prefer the visual ramp up on the s7 v4.5 940 to the m4 v6.3 995. The 995's visual ramp up is too extreme for my tastes. Given the fact I now use techmode, I only go by the audio ramp up which is far more tolerable.

Based on what I have seen real world, the s7 is superior notion is false IMHO.

And for the one whom promised youtube footage proving s7 superiority (and you know who you are), yes, I am still waiting with baited breath.

This is Escort we're talking about here, they clearly are not afraid of raising prices. They wouldn't build cheaper, they'd just sell higher.
