Yeah, it's pretty decent for a family sedan, especially when price is factored into the equation.

But man, the TL's level of refinement is WAY above that of the LGT's.

Just a quick update. I rec'd the new replacement unit from Escort yesterday and will update after I have used it for awhile.

Regarding window tinting my front windshield isn't tinted.

Another thought on the false lasers. I'm guessing that you normally wouldn't get hit with laser unless you are moving. And since the 9500i has GPS why not have an option for no laser alerts if speed is 0? Or just reducing the volume of the alert if you are below a certain speed?

Good points about laser options. I think all of my falses have been while i was moving, so wouldn't help me so much. Very interested in seeing how your replacement unit works.

Of which we have about five months in Vermont...

Good thing actual sunny days are comparatively few.

However, with my BEL Rx65 I did happen to be nailed by Ka on one of those days!

..."strobing" lights, such as various LED-strobes and/or even LED-based brake-lights can elicit such falses, as can "strobing" sunlight under certain scenarios, and also the screen refresh rates on various vehicle's OEM or aftermarket Nav/entertainment screens (i.e. this has been routinely, repeatedly, and consistently reported of the BL/BP-chassis Legacy's Nav-screen, and the V1, which is *extremely* laser sensitive).

I use my 9500i with sunny day reflected off the snow light all the time and never a false laser from it.

Sand blasted pitted windshields from the desert here all to common as well and no false lasers from that either. All I've ever seen the 9500i false to a laser from is airports. Other sources of laser falses in other detectors seems not apply to the 9500i.

^ There is undoubtedly quite a bit of individual-unit variances involved, too, as well as other factors, such as vehicle-to-vehicle mounting variations, and even the exact physical circumstances that induced the false alert.

It may not happen for everyone, under the same circumstances, but it can and will happen for some.

Only false alerts I've gotten from my 9500i was driving out from an automated car wash (some laser sensor?) and when I was setting off my laser jammer by beaming it with my PDA causing reflections I guess back to the 9500i. Interestingly, I couldn't get the 9500i to go off when I directly beamed it with my PDA. I wonder what kinda filtering algorithm is has.
