Default 9500CI Owners w/ overheating GPS Antenna.

Just spoke with Escort and they are in denial there is a problem.

So please forward YOUTUBE videos to:

Steve Installation Tech / Shelly who works in sales.

    sales@escortinc.com

I just got mine in last week, and I'd rather not pay to have it installed. Then pay again to have the antenna uninstalled, and shipped back so that Escort can send me a new one. Then pay to have it installed again.

I find it hard to believe this was not caught in the QC / beta testing... If they even bothered.

Actually, if you have it installed by an Escort dealer and it is still under warranty then I would think it would be covered, including the replacement cost. I really don't see how an antenna could heat up? Of course if on the outside of the vehicle then sitting in the sun it will get hot. Typically with antennas there is no power to them, I believe.

Well, every member on the forum that has a CI is experiencing the GPS antenna overheating issue.

Might as well have a thread for all the videos. Heaven forbid they actually believe a customer.

The antenna doesn't overheat, at least mine doesn't. What happens is when it gets hot sitting out in the sun, it won't aquire GPS signal until it cools down. I will video this if you would like.

Truelock Works! I have 30,000+ miles of ticket free driving to prove it. For someone who's supposedly done talking about something, you sure do bring it up a lot.

Your antenna is on the dash right? I would make a cover for it, or wrap it in a hot dog bun.

It really doesn't bother me that much. The RD part works, so it's just the GPS capabilities that are effected, but just until it cools down, then it works fine.

I park my car in my garage at home, so it's never a problem there. Also, since I live so close to the ocean, it's rarely hot enough here to be a problem. It only happens to me when I am parked somewhere hot, in the sun, for a long time. That just doesn't happen to me that much.

I can definitely see how this could be a pain in the a$$ for some people, but it just doesn't bother me that much. That being said, I will try to video it the next time it happens to me.

Mine has the same issue. I had to move my antenna by my speedometer so it is not exposed to the sun. On my dash it was getting killed
