Ok, I am from NY and cannot believe how this whole thread has gotten so big...

This is a common occurrence every week for me... since most troopers leave on their units when pulling someone over.

This happens all the time to me on every detector I have owned in NY, when troopers pull people over I either get:

    A) Unreal warning... this occurs maybe 25% of the time

    B) Terrible alerts... this occurs ~75%

(There is the occasional "reasonable alert")...

    YOUR ENCOUNTER WAS COMPLETELY NORMAL.

If you wish you can send your unit in... but as you just got it back, its likely in top-shape.

Yeah my 9500ix is very slow to alert to KA as well. My 8500 X50 never had this problem. I will be selling my IX and buying the Redline.

Very disappointed with the 9500ix. Hopefully the Redline will have better response time.

If the fastest response time is what you want I think V1 is for you, read some of the threads on here about Redline having the same problems with response time as all Escorts seem to have. In my 4 encounters with KA band since testing the V1 and 9500ix the V1 alerted 4-5 sec earlier one time (both alerted way out and in enough time), equal 2 times (no warning what so ever until I was right on top of the cop, using IO I think) and the 9500 alerted 1 second earlier one time.

You may be right.. I've always tried to go with Escort but maybe it's time to convert? I'm just not too fond of a TON of false alarms (such as picking up other radar detectors) which I know won't happen with the Redline but does happen with the V1. And I have heard that pairing it with the c100 can be very buggy.. Bah I guess I'll just have to wait for more Redline reviews.

    Thanks for the suggestions

Redline will false more than any other Belscort, if false suppression and sensitivity are important the 9500 series is the only choice. Raw sensitivity but lots of falsing V1 or RedLine.

I don't know about Redline, but unless you can turn X band off on the V1 and not worry about it in your area, the V1 will drive you nuts with false X band alerts. X band off would be bearable, but still more false K than you will have with the 9500ix.

You can turn X band on or off if you like on the Valentine 1. Do I know this because I own one? No, but because I have done enough research that for me I want one. The 9500ix is great, lots of cute features and a blue display and a cute little chica that talks to you. The TruLock feature works great too - so great that you should NEVER speed in an area that you have locked out and as far as I am concerned AutoLearn is for people that always obey the PSL.

Where I need protection is NOT in the city where going 50 in a 30 is downright stupid most of the time anyways. I want it out in the boonies where basically the only thing that will set off your RD is a LEO. The raw sensitivity over silence is my choice for the best possible protection as a V1 will alert you to a cop 1/2 mile away as he shoots a car that you might not even be able to see. My 9500ix? maybe, but I bet you not as early as the V1 and that gives you a greater chance of knowing there is a LEO somehwhere. The volume knob is a wonderful thing and when I get a V1 I will have it turned down a lot on local daily commutes. Talk about getting off topic.....

You must not do much Hwy driving???
The V1 or Redline are Hwy machines not made for puttering around town, to me the Hwy driving is where you test the Rd not back and forth around the CVS to test truelock...just my 2 cents.....

I do about the same amount of highway driving as i do local so its about 12k a year each, but your point is very true.
However the 9500 series is for both city and highway. I prefer to have a great performer in both categories than one that totally rocks in only one category.
Or of course the ultimate would be to have one for highway and a 2nd for around town.
