hello peeps, i just bought my first radar detector, a 9500i, from bestbuy. I was just curious whether the 9500i was undetectable to radar detector detectors? I live in BC, we have no laws for radar detectors here, but i would still like to know..

Its very much detectable but you don't have to worry![]()
Both the 9500i and the 9500ix are easily detectable via Spectre. The only completely undetectable RDs on the market are the Belscort with the M3 radar antennas. Those are the Bel STi, Bel STi-R, Escort RedLine and Escort 9500ci. Everything else on the market is detectable.
Unless you're using Carl Fors' broken Spectre.
this sucks. Why can't i just have a perfect detector. Is the STi better than9500i.. I just want to feel better.![]()
In my experience (I own both) my STI out performs my 9500ix. The more off axis the threat the more the STI out performs it. If the threat if dead straight ahead of you, the performance seems to be about the same, with the 9500ix a little better on k-band.
The cheapest almost stealth RD is a high end Whistler at less than 300 ft.![]()
Yes its undetectable to all RDD but not to the Spectre RDD. Ether way they would need to be less than 1000ft to detect your unit and you would obviously see them.
The 9500I rocks and will give you more usable selectable features than the STi or Redline.
I drive through VA with my 9500I/ix and just unplug it during a encounter.
One of these days an LEO in Virgina is gonna be sitting with radar off and spectre on and.. well you know how that will end.![]()
