    Default Got the Wrong Detector!

As much as I love the 9500ix I purchased a few weeks ago (big upgrade from the cheap-o ones I've used in the past) I realized a bit too late that I bought the wrong one. I do a lot of driving on US60/84 between New Mexico and Lubbock, Texas and there aren't many falses, and are no speed cams. The only red light cameras in Albuquerque they are now going to remove. Had I known about the Redline I would have purchased it instead, unfortunately for me I got the top one at Best Buy which happened to be the 9500ix. I guess the best I can do now is wait until I'm stationed somewhere in a bigger city so the 9500ix can shine. I've had a few saves with the 9500ix on 60/84 with Ka band stalker radar, but the range was just enough for me to slow down in time (too close for comfort). The drive is mostly straight but has a few curves and hills here in there, which is where I slow down. The more I read about the Redline the more I realize how much I screwed up! Does anyone know if there has been any scientific testing done with the Redline? I've found test results on GoL and other websites for almost every other detector out there. I guess the Redline is just too new or I'm missing them.

Plenty of real world testimony's about the RedLine and how great it is, it uses the same antenna as the 9500ci which rocks in its detection ability's.

However the 9500ix is no slouch, and still can produce good saves. Just doesn't give as much of a comfort zone. You can also use the speed trap feature to mark locations.

So is it safe to say the 9500ci test results would be very close to the Redline's, since they use the same antenna? The 9500ix seems to actually alert me to K band (the local cops here) at a lot further range than the Ka band (the state troopers) which is contradictory to what I've read.

Your 9500ix is no match for Tx Dps and there Quick trigger I/O tactics which i'm sure the ix is a poor performer. I live in Lubbock and Dps all around here will snatch you in a flash with 200ms of Instant on 34.7 Ka. Some cruisers are equipped with spectres. Belscorts have a very long response time to filter the radar. Dps can Q/T you with out your detector alerting.

With all the close calls I've gotten in the past few weeks I now realize I should have gotten a balls to the walls detector ala Redline or V1. The 9500ix is a great detector just not what I needed. I can only blame myself, though, for doing the research too late. I guess in a few years if I get stationed in a place like San Antonio or any other big city I'll probably be grateful I have it, though by then I'm sure there will probably be detectors that far surpass what I have now. Maybe I can eBay it and get 400 of my 500 back to get a Redline or V1, I mean it's brand new and I even have the receipt with date. Well, I guess at least I taught myself a lesson (a $500 one)!

^^ Very true. If you drive mostly highway, I suggest you get the V1.

New Mexico State Police runs constant on Ka 35.5 and K band. This video from me was made near Roswell NM. My aunt and Uncle live in Clovis behind the headquarters for Allsups. The Dps outside of Muleshoe uses his spectre to nail Rd users and is very selective with his Instant on.

Too late for that now. Doing a quick check on eBay I can probably get 400 for my new ix then buy a V1 for 400 new or throw the extra 100 in for a Redline. Going to be a massive PITA, but it's my fault -_- . Is it safe to assume the GoL test results for the 9500ci are close to what the Redline's would be, seeing as how they use the same antenna?
