    Default Hello from Texas! :(

Hello, I inherited an Escort 8500 X50. Found this place when trying to read up about it. I would really like to get more into the countermeasure scene. Seems like this is the place.

Thanks for providing this resource. Keep up the good work.

Welcome! If you turn your radar detector upside down and look at the bottom side of it, could you please tell us the FCC ID #? It should either end in M4 or S7

Wow awesome! So many welcomes I appreciate it. I am in the North Texas (DFW) area.
I dont have the detector with me currently but I will look when I get back to it.
    Are there differences in 8500s?
I really dont know why I put the frowny face. Its hot, flat, straight roads....bah I guess I was feeling anti Texas haha.

Alright, your location has brought up a more important question. Where do you regularly drive? I live in Allen so I know the Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Plano, Richardson, and North Dallas area pretty well. If you live in the same area as I do then you will need a laser jammer. Especially during the summer months. I get hit 3-4 times per week in Allen alone with laser in the summer months and no detector will help you with it.

As for your question about the 8500s. First, what is the highest amount that you are looking to spend? If you can go upwards to $400 then I will suggest you get the Valentine One instead. There is a lot of instant on and quick trigger radar up here that the 8500 is likely to miss. If you can't go up that high then your best option is to get with a factory refurbished Escort 8500. This model has an S7 platform versus the newer model M4s. The S7 is known to be slightly better than the M4 on off axis detection.
