    Default LI wiring question

I'm gonna be updating my protection in the near future and may well go for a quad LI, slim heads at the rear.

However, it is vital for me to be able to kill my stoplights during an alert (to prevent an LEO being aware of my reaction to his lidar) and intend to use relays to turn off the power to the lights.

Looking at the manual pics posted here, there is the possibilty of two power outs for thsi purpose

    1. Mute cable

    2. External speaker

My initial idea is to use the mute cable to trip the relay, however I would really like to know what the output characteristics of this cable is BEFORE I purchase an LI.

So, Mr Interceptor, could you shed some light on this.

    Cheers ears!

    I have an 06 W164 M class Merc.

Just need to know the voltage of the mute wire at normal and alert, and max current. Just allows me to ensure there's enough juice to flip my relays.

all call mutes are a 200 mv or less ground not voltage!!
so use a relay like this

Not sure how 200mv is not a voltage but we live and learn!

My assumption is that you mean the mute wire behaves like most mobile phone mute wires in that there is a resting volatge of 200mv which switches to ground upon alert.

Your diagram is exactly what I had in mind, I just needed to be sure there would enough of a volatge drop to allow a relay to switch.

LOL! No worries. I thought 200mv was a tad on the low side!
