I wouldnt trust anything for myself other than LI at the moment. LI is a beast of a jammer and has amazing support thanks to Cliff. I get hit by lidar just about every month. I also get targeted from the rear at least once a year. I can prove it with a yellow pager. The V1 will give you the same second response as the leo pulls the trigger and the alert goes away as the leo stops. Cant say the same for Escort even with there $1,600 CI unit. I have ran alot of radar and favor V1 plus LI. V1 + LI is still cheaper than a 9500CI. We have Red light cameras so a cheetah GPS may be needed and the cheetah can also link to the V1 to add GPS silencer where K-band does not alert under a certain MPH while your in the car. Go to the V1 stickey for K-band suppression.
I own Veil G4 and yes, Veil works. Veil was used on my last car when I only had the 9500CI with the ZR4. With Veil. I had no consistant PT on my BLACK SMALL HONDA <400ft with any guns I got my heads on. <400ft was Instant PT with every gun but PL3. If you had the LI, I dont think you will need Veil unless your test failed with a properly mounted LI unit.
If you want a good radar, your gonna have to pay. A ticket will cost around $200 + insurance increase over 5 years. Work out the math, I had no issue buying the V1, LI, or the over priced 9500CI. I buy what works.
Dont bother ever to buy a radar and expect it to save you from laser. laser protection from radar = Instant noob fail. Dont be a part of it.
To OP
I live and work in Palm Beach County. I have a V1 and a LI on my Civic. Both work as advertised.
I would say that having a LI is a must down here. FHP uses laser as does West Palm Beach Police and possibly the Sheriff's department. You will encounter mostly Prolaser 3 (FHP and West Palm Beach Police), Ultralyte (West Palm Beach Police) and Laser Atlanta (FHP). Fortunately, the LI jams all of these guns and more. It's expensive, but worth it. Do NOT rely on a radar detector to protect you from laser threats - by the time it goes off, they already have your speed, trust me.
For radar, I would recommend the V1, but there are many other options. If you go with the V1, enable K band automute settings, so you aren't driven crazy by the constant K band false alarm sources in the city. FHP uses a lot of Ka - I don't know the frequencies because I no longer run an Escort product - but it's mostly CO and occasionally IO. Use rabbits to avoid IO. This has actually saved me on the turnpike before. FHP likes to sit in the breakdown lane and shoot you in the back after you pass - be extra careful in the HOV (carpool) lane. They also use the rear antenna and target you on the approach - I've seen this tactic with IO. There are lots of undercover chargers (as you know) so be on the lookout for them.
Good luck.
Oh yeah, LI customer service with Cliff is excellent, no question about that.
Likely a typo
yellow pager = Yellow paPer
I live in SW FLA and travel between Orlando and Miami about twice a week.
Besides Aligator alley, I have only saw FHP running laser on the interstate a handful of times. Mostly they are running Ka.
Usually CO but sometimes IO.
However in the cities they run laser a lot.
They also drive around with they're Ka on all the time like beacons saying here comes a cop.
My opinion is to get a V1. I get alerts on the interstate well ahead of time to slow down if its CO. IO is another story but with all the traffic down here I end up getting a good warning.
FHP has been running I/O KA band a lot more the past few months.
