    Default Li power issue

The other day I went to power up my LI and it did not power up, a few hours later it powered fine and seems fine since?

I am not sure what the deal is, I have it installed for well over a year without an issue with power before.

Check your power and ground connections as well as ensure that the power connector is properly seated into the CPU and check to make sure the spade connectors on the back of the switch are also seated properly.

Let me know what you find.

Check your connections as Cliff stated. It certainly sounds like there is a connection issue.

^Agree, hopefully just a loose connection or equivalent problem.

Never was a fan of "add-a-circuit" or t-taps. Not saying that is what was used but I'm just saying... Either solder all electrical connections, or strip->spread->insert->squeeze->wrap->tape-> and ziptie the wire. Ground connections should be made in the kickpanel to bare metal. Self tapping screws with a star washer work well. If you follow those methods and end up having a problem with the unit powering up, its either a faulty connection at the fuse, a blown fuse, a faulty connection at the unit, or a faulty unit.

I just ordered the Dual and starting to think about the install. I'm installing the unit in Lotus -- the chassis and much of the interior panels are aluminum. Can the above grounding still work?

I've had the same thing happen too after about 12 months, one of the spade connectors on the switch was a bit loose.

Negative ground is negative ground. What do you think a fair portion of automotive wire is made of? (Hint - if not copper, it's aluminum.)

Ha. I missed that question. Very true. Copper is ridiculously expensive and not only is aluminum cheaper, lighter, and more flexible, it conducts almost as well. It's used widely in house wiring also.
