The new Toyota Avalon has laser cruise control as an option, it's Lexus counter-part also use it.

A friend of mine turned on his laser cruise control in his 04 Infiniti M45. while following me

It caused my rear shifter of my Zr3 to go off, but he didn't notice any effect on his cruis control.
