It's a toll road that has very light traffic, so it's difficult to find a good rabbit. At 1:30 in the morning, the road was probably completely empty.
    For some reason I was thinking this was the 71 EXPRESSWAY in chino hills/Orange County.. I couldn't figure out why ya'll were tripping about speeding on that b/c I did that all the time, then I had to go look at the State Routes again, yea you probably don't want to speed on 73 lol

    The 71 is straight as an arrow. There is one sweet hiding spot right at you approach the 91 where CHP likes to set up shop.

    Don't feel bad... I had no idea who he was until I looked around a bit.

    All I got from that is that he's TRULY nobody. And the photo posted above leads me to conclude that he's the Stig's chav cousin.

    I wish the cops around here saw it that way. My next PSL+30 ticket is probably going to get me a misdemeanor charge.

    That would actually be a great RDnet experiment some day...take a Porsche GT2 with the ceramic composite brakes out to some deserted, dead-straight highway, set up a C/O radar trap, wind it up to 200 mph, and then 10/10ths brake the instant the V1 lights up. See who wins, the brakes or the radar gun.

    No competition, Porsche wins.

    How far could the radar pick it up on a perfectly straight highway?

    From "The Basic Radar Gun (Police Traffic Radar Handbook)":

    "Traffic radar detection range varies with model and unit, and target. Maximum range can be as high as a mile (1.6 km) or more for large targets under good conditions, or as low as a hundred feet (30 m) or less for small targets under bad conditions. Factors that effect detection range include;

    * Radar parameters
    -- transmit power (chapter 8.3 -- Power Density)
    -- antenna gain (size) (chapter 5.3 -- Antenna Limitations, and appendix E -- Technical Details)
    -- receiver sensitivity (appendix D -- Range Equation)
    -- integration period (sample time); longer period (time), greater range
    -- frequency (appendix D -- Range Equation)

    * target Radar Cross Section (RCS) -- chapter 2.2
    -- varies with size (surface area), frequency, and angle

    * noise sources (chapter 5.5 -- Interference, and chapter 5.1 -- NHTSA Tests)
    -- near-by transmitters, high voltage lines/transformers, etc.

    * atmospheric conditions (chapter 5.5 -- Interference / Natural)
    -- temperature, humidity, weather, etc. "

    Yeah, nine miles is how far the RD receives it, not how far the radar gun can pick you up at.

    Thought that was what he was asking, oops.
