I wonder what the final price tag is on a fully decked out cruiser? Car- 23K, ALPR, 20K, in car ticket writer ??. All said and done $60-70K?

I'll admit... that is a very forgiving cushion for speeding (19MPH in a 55). Granted, I think it also says something about the speed limit if that number of people drive like that on it.
Man, with every 55 zone around here that I drive through, everyone is doing AT LEAST 80. It's all about the benjamins.
Everyone around here in the 55mph zones does like 58 lol GTFO of the left lane with that nonsense
PA and MD staties have the same general concept when it comes to speeding int a 55 mph zone. 74 and above get cited. As long as the local idiots stay off the highways (which I rarely ever see county on MD highways patrolled by the state) traffic moves just fine. Think about what would happen if the locals got radar/lidar. It would be a nightmare.
To the comments about the speed limit being too low - I agree. Most highways in Pennsylvania could afford to have a ~65mph PSL. But that's something you won't ever see...or it will be a LONG time from now. The only roadway in PA that has a 65mph PSL is the Turnpike and the max any other road can have is 55mph. That's a requirement by state law and I don't foresee it changing anytime soon.
To the comments about locals using radar/LIDAR on highways if they were allowed - In my experience, if municipalities were allowed to use radar and/or LIDAR they would not be permitted to use it on major highways. Not necessarily by law, but by unofficial policy. Things may be different in the rural/non-metro regions but I know in the major city regions of Pennsylvania, the commanders would NOT allow local police to govern over the highways in any way. With Philly's traffic unit probably being the exception.![]()

Hmm...I guess I'm wrong on that then. 3362 says that freeways are 65mph and all other highways are 55mph... I was under the assumption that the Turnpike was the only roadway considered a freeway in PA. It does appear that PennDOT can assign another highway to be a freeway, but I can't say I've ever personally driven on a non-Turnpike road that had a 65mph PSL.
The major highways here in Pittsburgh (376, 279, 79, 28) all have a PSL of 55mph...maybe it's because we're right outside of a city.
