Default Noticeable rise in speeding over 100 mph.

Im going to admit, im very young about the subject of speed cycles. I have been reading alot of stories about people going over 100 mph and the the number of tickets in general have gone up. Now these are just the people who get caught. Is just a cycle where people speed up, get more bold, speed enforcement blitz comes along every few years and people slow down again. Or is this a new thing. I have read more than one story about this in my area and other parts of the states.

For sportbikes, I think that's a more recent trend. But the speed of those sportbikes has increased dramatically over the past 10 years. I remember when a 750cc that could touch 220 km/h was a hairy beast.

Well, this can be easy be blown way out of proportion by the 'stay alive at 55' crowd and their insurance company supports. It might sway the majority of the public to supporting speed camera's on the simply logic of cops cant catch them all. For our safety we need speed camera's.

two possible factors... more and more quick bikes and high hp cars that are easily capable of 100. next, the cops are more equipped to catch speeders, crown vics going 130, and special pursuit vehicles that can hit 160+, not to mention helo's that can make 180. combine this with new tactics and radios. but no pursuit is pretty common, so maybe you just read about this too much on the internet and have a false perception.

your cycle theory kinda correct, but it only applies to localized areas for the most part. in my area, enforcement is at an all time low, 15 over in the city is common, as is yeilding for right turns and not stopping. Pretty soon in will flop over and the cops will have to crack down as violations are getting out of control to where wrecks are getting rampant (combine a common 15+ with a yeilded right turn and ouch)

My ZX10R does 104mph in first gear, and has a top speed of 186mph, and then the only thing stopping it from going faster is some sort of electronic governor. It weighs aout 380 pounds and makes 166 HP at the rear wheel. Its mind bending when you open the throttle hard. You really have to be holding on and leaning foward, and praying its not going to wheelie at 140+ on accident hehe.

In the last 10 years, affordable performance cars capable of easily reaching these speeds have become more common....combined with many miles of new, quality open roadway....

Plenty of cars stock cars can top 150 mph. My C6 Corvette is stock and has a top speed of 186. A Stock Z06 Corvette tops out at 198. Getting to in excess of 100 mph in either of these cars is very quick and very easy even in 6th gear which is a 1-2 overdrive. In third gear these cars go 115-125 depending on the model.
