    Default Instant On Question

It is my understanding that when using radar, it takes a LEO a couple seconds to get a reading on a car. My question is, if you get hit with instant-on does this mean you have 1-2 seconds to brake so that the LEO gets a lower speed reading, or by the time your RD notifies you it's too late? Also, I have yet to get a ticket, so I was wondering, how do LEOs actually prove how fast you were driving? Do they have a print-out of your speed with the date and other relevant information on it or does their word stand true alone?

If you're the direct target of instant-on, by time your RD goes off it's too late.

As far as the print out goes, your ticket is the print out and it's basically them writing down what was on their laser/radar unit or what they estimated your speed as. There are no printers hooked up to the radar/laser units.

Once he hits you with Instant-On you are done! No 2 ways about it 99.9% of the time. Also they can lock your speed on their display for them to show you if you want.

But they aren't required to do this. So they can also deny you when you ask to look.

yeah your done if he targets your car 1st and your very close, but if your not targeted and another auto is, you can pick up scatter and slow down. I you get a full blast of a band alert...and you are by yourself? your cooked for thanksgiving.

your only prayer is the same with laser, slow down before he can pull the trigger. However you need to see him first.

i got one with instant on at night. I was surprised that the ticket I got was 92 when I thought I was going somewhere around 98. I did hit the brakes hard, but maybe the cop was just being nice and wrote one a tad lower so I wouldn't be in the higher point bracket. Maybe I really was going 92, maybe he was far enough from my lane that it registered low. It was pitch dark and I have no idea where the cop was.

It won't hurt to slam on your brakes, but don't expect much if its you getting shot.

I got hit with full blast K band yesterday all of a sudden so I guess it was instant on and my question is after K band went off at full alert I was the only car on the road by the way, After I drove for about a few hundred feet or 30secs to a minute of driving time I saw the trooper in the median could he had gave me a ticket since I wasn't in site and considerably away from him?

Instant-on is used exclusively in areas/jurisdictions where RDs are legal... no IO in my area as cops have no reason to play smart to nail drivers for more cash... just .01% of people use RDs in my area...
