I guess I made it a little big on the opening part that butts up to the RD.

Mine's big enough to where you can fit the 8500S7 just inside the horn extension. I guess it will still work?
I can't promise but of course you should try. People learn from mistakes

The best way to make really working H/E is to measure size of the original horn aperture (for S7 it is 1.9cm x 1.25cm, if I remember well), design that end of a H/E with the same dimmensions, and match it exactly to original antenna.

If you don't want to demolish unit's housing, make those dimensions little bigger (for instance 2.1cm x 1,4cm) and stick H/E to the detector's front shield 1,4cm from left side of RD's front and 0,6cm from the bottom.

Please don't let me do all the work for you, because you loose such a fun
Thanks for the instructions. Now why don't you just make one and send it to me.

I'll mess around with it some this weekend. I just bought a Redline, so I'll be messing with it the most. Yeah, it should be interesting and fun.. lol

    nosbusa, I've made a mistake in S7 antenna dimensions: not 1,9 x 1,25 but 2,9 x 1,25 cm. Sorry

    Here we go again

    Small H/E for Pro78 / Pro 78SE:

Not tested too thoroughly but for now I can tell that it gives app. 60% range increase on K. And what's important - this H/E is so compact that fits perfectly into a standard windshield bracket:

It's so successful that I think it's worth to include here this simple template with dimmensions:

You need only to redraw this project x2 onto the carton, cut out every single element, stick by the double-sided adhesive tape on the aluminum foil like this:

    ,

cut whole out again, make all together with aluminum inside and then glue.
Ready H/E stick to original horn and you're ready to go

Yesterday evening we made with my friend simple comparison: Pro78+H/E against Pro78SE (standard) on K band (only one detector at the time). The source was Bushnell radar gun which emited signal constantly (blocked trigger).

When radar was directed straight to the road, both RDs alerted approximately at the same spot - about 600-650m from the source. However, after angled radar beam (see the picture), we saw fundamental deifference.

We repeated test. Results were almost the same.

Pro78+H/E lost the signal after 150-200m for a 2-3 seconds but get it back before the place of the Pro78SE initial alarm.

Can you provide more detailed build instructions? I would like to try this. I have a few well placed k-band doors around me and would really like to see how well it works.
