Hmmmm. This detector gets virtually no attention but it MIGHT be a quick little detector and not half bad against Ka.

The thing that intrigues me about it is USA mode. If I understand correctly, this is very similar to Ka segmentation on the M3 platforms where only the portion of Ka frequencies used in the US are scanned. Theoretically, that should improve response times and turn up the sensitivity on Ka another notch.

I'd like to see this little puppy make it into the next round of GOL tests.

As long as you're not encountering radar guns that are substantially off-frequency, USA mode is great. However, anything more than +/- 100MHz off of the intended frequencies of 33.800, 35.500, and 34.700 will be missed entirely. For me, it was worth the risk when I had an RX65.

Several GOL tests have made use of USA mode in the tests. My old RX65 was used in this one, and USA mode improved range in every test.

The RX65 was VERY impressive in that test.

In all the time I've been running my Belscorts in SPEC mode (which is 99% of the time) I have yet to run across a real Police Radar that was operating outside the spec. Not saying it can't happen, but I would think it's quite rare.

I'd really like to see what affect USA mode has on response times which was not part of the battery of tests back then. I would think it has the potential to significantly reduce reaction times and might make the C65 the best choice of any current Belscort where QT is a problem.

My GF has the C65. Great little detector. The range is at best identical to my 9500ix and at worst, just under it. Very impressive and she got it for around 185. I may have to tip her off to the USA mode.

Edit: Also, just curious. Are we sure its only searching in the +/- 100 Mhz range around the Ka bands in USA mode? Is there documentation of this?

You won't find any mention of what this feature does exactly or the prescribed benefits in either the C65 or RX65 manuals.

It's as though the engineers at Bel came up with an ingenious method of improving response times and kicking up the sensitivity another notch and didn't tell the marketing guys.

But thats exactly what it does...........the boys at Bel decided to break up Ka superwide to cut down on scan time (primarily for the guys in Europe who desparetly needed more range on Gatso's and the like........Intl mode) and were kind enough to include a USA mode as well.

It's Belscorts best kept secret I guess.

I would like to see a test to see if USA mode would or how much it improves KA response times.
