Thread: K Band Range

    Default K Band Range

I was on my way to my girlfriend's tonight and I was getting about 3 K band hits. The area has a few stores that always make my V1 go off on K so I didn't think much of it. After I drove past the stores, it dropped down to 1 hit. It then ramped up a little bit to maybe 4 on the strength meter. I then saw a cop pulling out of a side street a little bit ahead of me. It did not ramp up anymore. So overall, the range was less than .1 of a mile. I have a 1.8 w/o POP in A mode. What gives?

maybe it was still falsing on the stores, and the police did not have his radar on...
maybe he aimed his radar not directed at you..

if he was shooting the other direction.. and you going opposite to it, your signal is hitting the back of his radar, which could cause low bars/weak signal

I also thought that maybe it was still falsing, but I have driven by there many times with my V1 and the false doesn't last that long. The cop was coming towards me so I'm not sure what was happening. Kind of disappointing encounter with my first cop.

    Well we can't explain it.

He might not have had his radar on, he might have - it could have been a handheld sitting in his passenger seat which would explain the crappy range. Too many variables and unknowns. It seems to be working just fine. It picks up the falses just fine - I would say it is working just fine.

Yah, it must have been a fluke. I got an awesome alert from the rear today on K, I'd say at least .5 mile over a hill. Then I pulled in a parking lot and sure enough a LEO drove by. So I followed still getting good range to the front. It was great!

today, i was beside a leo at a stoplight.. right beside him..
my v1 was only going off 4-5 dots on K band... no falses in area...
i pulled my phone to get a quick vid off my camera-phone..but the light turned green...
i saw 2 police earlier, one sheriff ford expedition, and one SG police crown victoria.. the V1 worked excellently...
im thinking the leo at the spotlight had the radar on the ground or something.. maybe on the passenger seat.. i looked into his car, and it was night, so i could see everything lit up.. i did not see any radar gun lit up.. so im thinking thats where it was...
no problem with the V1 though..
