How does POP work?

I have not seen any test in which the V1 picks up the 16ms POP bursts? Has the latest revision fixed this?

Unfortunately NO. turning off POP on your V1 decreases the chances of have the "J" alert big time. Even when POP is activated on your V1, it still does not detect POP 16ms sec.. Only the STi does well with POP alerting to 3 out of 10 tries at point blank range. At a distance, the STi will not probably alert to POP - this I have not tested. You can also check Radar Detector Tests and Reviews by Guys of LIDAR for more info about POP. 67ms POP burst is detected by the V1.

Since 16ms POP is not detected by the V1 with POP on, it would be better to just turn off POP to minimize frequent "J" alerts and the annoyance of these alerts.

The sales person on the phone at V1 told me that if I disable POP, I would potentially miss a non pop alert on K or Ka. This doesn't sound right. What's the deal? She said the band of coverage is wider in the POP mode. True?

Well I guess it will be easy to test, two companies in the area use photo radar at 34.3 and 34.6. I'll turn off POP and see what happens.

i don't know about that..
when i was quick triggering my Falcon against my V1 with POP off, i could get it to not alert.
but when i had POP on, it would alert to every single one of my quick triggers.

for the test above, i made sure to power cycle the V1 between settings so that it wasn't looking for the same frequency as a recent threat.

i don't know about that..

Hmmm. That's strange. Mine works just fine with POP off. What version V1 do you have?

Just wondering. BTW, let us know what your version is when you get your new one. Some have claimed that there is now the 3.871.
