Agree with being able to mute from the main unit or the CD, used to do it all the time.

I also put into the chain a remote audio adapter from VR, it “also” acts as a mute, a display toggle and the ability to cycle through the program modes (A, little L, or large L).

This shuttles the lighted display between the V1 and the CD. The install directions are in the manual. I have it temporarily mounted near my center console so I don’t have to move my arm / hand to either mute the V1, move the lighted display back and forth from the V1 to the CD or change program modes.

It helps sometimes when I get a tailgater (already surmised they are not a plain wrapper or slick top) and I flip on the V1 display lights from the CD to the main unit, they usually back off quick, I douse the lights back to the CD and proceed. By the way I normally mount the V1 high by the passenger visor.

She doesn't get the same amount of satisfaction out of listening to an alert slowly ramp up that we do, although when she was doing about 90 and the LI jammed a GA state trooper, she changed her tune considerably when it comes to all these "silly toys" so now she has a little more interest and patience...

I have a remote mute button that I got on ebay from a seller named agravic. It is attached to my wiper stalk with a cable tie (supplied) and a small bit of 3M tape.

Its been on there since July last year now and I find it very handy to mute the V1. I didnt like having to reach through the steering wheel either but now I can just tap this with my finger without even having to take my hand off the wheel . So much easier and it can be used for programming also as it is a mute button after all .

I had to buy a 2-1 RJ11 adaptor to be able to run the concealed display and the mute button together but this worked perfectly also.
