    Smile v1 or 9500ix

    hello everyone,

I was thinking about buying a RD i'm leaning towards 9500ix but i live in michigan there are no red light camera. I read alot of posts and i like the performance on V1. I constantly speed alot so i need ample amount of time to slow down and need to alerted ahead of time.

What are some recommendations or comments for me.

    Thank you in advance

V1 for Highway and rural areas. Better sensativity, on and off axis.

I would only get the 9500ix For city use only driving in areas with alot of falses, speedcams and redlight cams.

I recommend trying SEARCH. This topic has been discussed so many times all the answers are there for the reading.

    I own both.

For the hwy, the V1 will will do better with the "hunter" LEO's. (-The ones that hide behind hills and use I/O etc)

Both will get the job done for lazy LEO's. (-The ones that just drive around with their radar on or sit in the median on a long, flat stretch.)

I am already looking for a an extra GPS unit to deal with speed cameras on road trips so that I can run the V1 instead of the ix. (However, my ix is on its way to Escort to see if it is broken, or just lacks the sensitivity I want for high-speed travel. If they "fix" it to where it is closer to my V1, I will probably just use the ix.)

I drive a lot for my job and I love the ix for that driving. I almost never speed in my work vehicle. There are tons of door-opener falses that my ix has silenced. (218 last time I backed-up my RD) The Spec display allows me to "recon" the equipment and methods our local LEO's are using. And my work vehicle has no back window so the V1's arrows won't work.

V1 looks foward and to the sides, 9500ix looks more forward and less to the side... the V1 is very quiet in the highway and out of town areas and only falses alot in heavy metro areas like Los angeles,Ca etc. Areas like this the 9500ix is better to use cause it learns these falses and silences them so after it learns the falses and then alerts you know its a real leo.. The V1 falses so much in metro areas it leaves you with a cry wolf syndrome ( makes you feel first part of real LEO threats are falses also)

Where are you going to be using it most? city or highway.. what types of radar or laser are used in your area?

The V1 doesn't false much on the hwy and, when it does, the arrows let you know as you pass the signal. For road trips where the ix hasn't had a chance to "learn" where the falses are, the V1's arrows do a better job of letting you know when you are "done" with a given alert. It point's ahead, then to the side, and then to the rear, letting you know that you just passed the signal it was alerting to.

The ix will give an alert and then stop......and let you wonder if it was distant instant on radar, or a door opener that was a little too close to the hwy.

In the city, the ix rocks! Even if you have not locked-out any falses, the auto mode uses your speed to adjust sensitivity and reject falses.
