Default Finally parted my V1 ......

After 2 encounters of actually having my V1 suppressed radar signals from LEO, I finally had to give it up. As most of you know, we have an issue of J'ying out LEO. I have done a good amount of time doing some test with J alerts with radar onboard and my V1 never failed me. In one of those encounters, LEO was waiting at a stop light for his light to go green - LEO was going the opposite direction. I was going the opposite direction approaching that intersection and was about 3/4 of a mile from LEO's position and got a couple Ka blips and did the J alert and went silent. As I got closer to LEO, I remebered happya$$ and CrazyVolvoRob's post about turning off the V1 and powering it back on. So I did this and was about 1000-1250 ft away and got the alert with 4 bars. This is when I realized that there is a problem with V1's J alert feature. So I finally had to part my beloved POP2 V1.

I hope VR reads this and someday do something about it. My local LEO uses kustom signals and every now and then, my V1 J's them out. Now I'm using pre POP V1 1.8 and is extremely satisfied with it's performance. I will upgrade later as soon as the J issue is resolved.

    "J" alert = JustBe alert.

Ka 35.5 . You missed the Ka blips.

Okay, yeah as far as I know, all J-outs are from Ka band (including Cobras). I just hoped to narrow it down to specific frequency, so thanks for that. I wonder if this is a 35.5 specific phenomenon? Most of my Ka is 34.7 and, as far as I know, I have never J'd-out a LEO, and I'm in a Ka-rich area. But this still concerns me.

    That's what I've noticed so far - no J out's with 34.7.

Just be alert when you get a "J" alert.

    What is a J alert?

Do/Can other RD pick up J alerts?

I deliberately did not choose a V1, but mainly due to the fact it alerts to almost everything. About the only things I did like about it was its sensitivity and resulting long distance detection, and the arrows. But I get good detection with the RDs I use and to me it does not matter what direction it is detecting from.

I have j'd out a LEO before w/ the V1, but it has been a long time. 35.5 ka band mainly used here.

I've had 1 known instance of a J-out of a real LEO, over a year ago, and the state troopers use 34.7 here.

It's probably less of a frequency thing and more of a coincidence thing. The V1 picks up a real LEO, and harmonics from a Crapra, and it mistakenly thinks the LEO is the Crapra and junks it out.

I've also had an instance where the V1 was picking up a real LEO, then picked up a Crapra (2nd bogey), then it junked out the Crapra while continuing to alert to the real LEO, so sometimes the J works great.

Didn’t anyone read Happy@ss sticky of Explanation of the V1 & J OUT info (Tricks): [replacer_img]

    http://www.radardetector.net/forums/valentine-one/41467-explanation-v1-j-out-info-tricks.html

I commented in it as well, its V1's version of the TrueLock problem but it can happen anywhere any time.

VR needs to make the J out feature optional/selectable, and i believe having POP on increases the chances on 33.8 & 35.5 LEO encounters. I dont beleve anyone ever had a J out on 34.7.

Other than my wish that the V1 was completely stealth, the J out feature would be the only other thing holding me back from buying a V1. I don’t need another RD that locks out LEO's.

l Lockout and no more this time. At least I still got a V1.
I think you need to switch CJR. Your ix got so much features that it gets confused at times on what to do.

It's a V1 feature that junks false alerts. If you don't use a V1, you don't have to worry about it.
