That was not nice.

During this thread people have insulted Mike V Mike V's wife the thread starter's only reason to start the thread(s) was to get his $50 revenge on VR which he has admitted and I'm not nice to point that out! Should I have been a bit my loving and caring so not to upset him?
Revenge (synonym vengeance) is a harmful action against a person or group as a response to a (real or perceived) grievance
Hey I'm not trying to get some revenge on anybody I'm just seeing it at it's whole unadulterated undressed turth.
You three boys dating him or something or is it the Sir post that pulled your heart strings?

Nothing to see here. Just move along folks.
Yes we know...
It is a V1 FANBOI, still there is nothing to see.
It will all be cleaned up in a moment or two :)

You're out of line. Whether you feel he has a legitimate complaint or not, bksnoopy has a right to share his customer service experience with this forum. The information he has shared might save someone some grief should they encounter a similar situation. I'd say a good number here didn't know this was VR's policy. I certainly didn't. It does seem that charging bksnoopy $50 for a part they're already making a profit for at $13, is a bit much.

I encourage anybody who has had a bad experience with a company to post it but do you think it's necessary to write the same thing in every thread you see that says the words: escort 9500ix or Valentine one? Look at his (bksnoopy) recent post if you don't know what I'm talking about. Even if he was complaining about RMR or KAT, I find it very annoying to post the same thing 20 times over the course of a few hours.

That's what I'm talking about. I don't think I'm out of line DJ just look at his history on the topic. So it's canon fodder time, he had his good 2 or 6 or 10 x's to have a say don't you think. Sorry if I'm a straight shooter I'm sure he's a real nice guy and it is Xmas but the dudes got a problem and not telling him not gonna fix it. Now do you think he's gonna start another thread about the same topic? :p he doesn't like a detector that's too situation aware. What he needs to figure out is that if he didn't cut that power cord he would not have this problem. Customer service don't hang up on folks that are nice. What he hasn't told the forum is what he said to the VR office bull terra. Remember the hundreds of threads about great VR service. Or did you all just want to focus on this dudes personal revagne because the detectors to much for him to handle and then when he didn't return it as he got it they nailed it into him. who's at fault. Oh me I forgot

Re: I took my Valentine Back
There are two seperate things going on here:
1) bksnoopy had a legitimate customer service problem with VR.
2) bksnoopy is acting like a newb and running around the forum posting repetitive anti-V1 stuff.
I agree that #2 is annoying, but you guys are attacking him for #2, even though #1 is legit.

While I'm at it DJ think about it your returning a gadget that's is not faulty with a cord that is not the same as you received it. Buy rights they could refuse the return completely. Hrmm, I disagree, the $100 restocking fee for "renters" is one thing, $50 'not like new' fee on the other hand is something else. It shouldn't matter if it was his fault or not if it was returned within the 30 day time frame and he had soaked it in the bottom of a pool, the guarantee is a guarantee, and if he didn't like the results after cutting a cord or soaking it in the bottom of a pool, they should take it back. And his argument is solid -- the power cord is $13 sold online, why does he have to pay $50 for them to replace a power cord -- you could make an argument that 1 power cord is lost from stock, but even then the fee should only be double and $13 x 2 is $26, not $50.

Re: I took my Valentine Back
I take your point. At the end of the day He is not telling the whole story, just his side, it's doesn't cut it for me. The whole threat was a set up to discredit VR that also doesn't cut for me. So he should take them to court if he's been ripped off right.

Re: I took my Valentine Back
If it were a money-back guarantee on a "super widget" and he took a $50 screwing for a $13 mistake, most of the V1 Fanbois would be right here in the same thread griping and complaining with him.
But god help us when the name Valentine was mentioned, you would have thought Steve Jobs joined the forum/thread.
Just be fair and stop slinging the name calling and insinuations.
I have read over and over again, all over this site, from many otherwise happy Valentine users that VR has very poor CS and they do not (apparently) have an incentive to change it (her).
When I am wronged (and when someone does me right), I make it a point to alert as many people as possible.

x2, if I were the OP I would seriously do a chargeback if they tried to charge me an UNDISCLOSED $50 fee for return, alert sites like consumerist.com and make as many people aware of the situation as possible. I would not be talking about it in every other thread on the same forum however, that I agree is annoying, but as DJ pointed out he has a legit complaint here. And it seems Ms. Valentine or whoever the girl is that does the telephone customer support is unwilling to do right by the customer. V1 patent runs out in April, I don't think now is the best time to try to F* potential customers, just because someone returns something doesn't mean they won't buy from you in the future, and if you show some good faith on accepting a return your chances of repeat business are better.

Did you try the k-band automute? The V1 is also exceptionally sensitive to laser too, so it generates alerts to non LEO sources. This is documented in the forum too.
The customer service charge does sound excessive, so I understand that frustration.
I'm sure the 9500ix is a very good radar detector. However, you may want to read the forum for other user's experiences and check out the guys of lidar tests. You'll find that there is no perfect radar detector, they all have strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully the 9500ix fits your needs the best.
The only bash on your post, is that you have 16 or so posts that have the same message. It's clear that you are not happy with the the V1 product or their customer service.
You're right,
I have been very upset after I got off the phone with their customer service person.
I expect I will have to protest the excessive charges. It's just 50 bucks and I'll get over it. I can't remember the last time I was talked to the way Valentine's supervisor talked to me. She really had a short fuse. I was trying to get her to charge me for the $13 part and for her to give me an explanation as to why I was being charged $50 restocking.
Their product pages state: "30-day Money-Back Guarantee.” There are no conditions there, nor an asterisk pointing to one.
It's not going to mess up my Christmas.
Merry Christmas to all :D
BTW .. If keeping my $50 is good for them, me giving them $50 worth of bad advertising is my way of getting my money’s worth.
Ben, OH
any credit card company would give you the 50.00 back if you can prove the dates
So you might just call them

Your aviator say it all, You're a NUT. :)
I also believe you work or have some personal connection to the Valentines.
The reason the cord didn't come up when I dropped it off is the lady that took my return failed to give me any type of receipt for my detector. She didn't ask me any questions as to why I was bringing it back and just said "they will credit my card". I had to ask her if I was going to get any return receipt. She said wait a minute, went to the back, came back, and handed me a copy of my receipt that she signed. During this time I didn't give them a reason for the return and didn't give the wire a thought. MY mistake on the little wire thing!
It still doesn't excuse the way I was treated. We're talking a piece of wire!
I would bet that several other customers cut that same wire (one of the bottom wires) while installing the hub. I'm sure all Valentine will do is open the hub and replace that little wire.
https://store.valentine1.com/store/products/20305.gif
I would be willing to bet another 50 bucks that they don't pitch that hub.
Knowing how old the Valentine 1 is, I doubt that the whole Valentine 1 cost more than $50 to make.
You better get back to your desk at Valentine ... Dropping in here to defend your boss is commendable but will not get you a raise this year. ;)

You’re right. It's something that I feel everyone needs to know and I will give Valentine 1 their monies worth. They bought $50 worth of bad publicity. You do want me to give them their monies worth, don't you?

The only thing I said to the office manager after she came back and told me Mike Valentine was too busy to talk to me and the charge "is what it is" ... You can quote me "So you are basically stealing $50 from me" I think that was a natural response when someone is stealing $50 from you. Right?
I didn't use any bad language what so ever !!!

Re: I took my Valentine Back
I think I made my point in this thread. I don't think it is necessary to fence with all the Valentine lovers, employees, etc.
Thanks for all the support good and bad. There are always 2 sides to every story. I openly admitted that I made a mistake. It won't be my last.
I'll continue to fight to get my $50. Why, you ask? ... because it’s the principle. I may never see that 50 bucks again but is it really worth it to Valentine to keep my money? Everytime I see a radar question, I will remember how Valentine treated this customer.
Peace all and Merry Christmas

I would expect to pay for any damage that I caused to their product. I think she didn't like me telling her that her product was very annoying with all the false beeps! I told her the truth and I guess that was also my mistake. I should have told her that I just can't afford the unit right now. She might have had mercy on me ;)
Cheers
 ok let me explain this so you can understand why I do not get any false RADAR alerts with my V1 or any RADAR detector for that matter.
Door openers use RADAR that RADAR gets picked up by my RADAR detector. wow what a concept a RADAR detector detected RADAR!
I have nothing turned off and I leave it in A mode all the time. I set the volume at a lever I can just hear it over road noise and the radio and set the mute volume lower. when I get a RADAR alert I use MY judgment on if it is an LEO or not (not a computers) if I determine the source is not from an LEO I hit the mute and carry on (all of this happens in a few seconds) I love the performance of the V1 and the arrows well they make it great!
I put an STi-R in the wife's car and I like it as well the auto mute feature is nice but it doesn't have the arrows. nothing beats the arrows of the V1.

I tried everything to improve the V1. I followed all the directions using all three modes of the detector. Even some of the muting changes postings.
I decided to remove it and take it back to Valentine ONE. I got it back within the 30 day money back return policy. They called me that same day and told me there was going to be a $50.00 charge because I cut a wire on “Direct Wire Power Adapter”. I told them that I was willing to buy a new power adapter which is listed on their web site at $13 retail and I thought the $50 was a little too much. She said there was nothing she could do about the charge because it was not returned in “new condition”. I had it boxed up with all the packing that came with it. It was boxed in perfect condition. I did cut a wire to make the power adapter shorter when I wired it to my fuse box.
I asked her to transfer me to Mr. Valentine and she came back on the line and told me he was in a meeting and he said the return charge “is what it is”.
I tried to continue talking to her and asked her why $50? Why not charge me for a new power adapter which only cost $13? She got agitated, defensive and quickly said she will note our conversation on my account and hung up on me.
I tried to contact Mike Valentine. I even sent him a fax. He never got back with me .. YET.
I have an Escort 9500ix ON its WAY. I am looking forward to trying the GPS and other up-to-date functions.
Escort gave me a $80 trade-in for my very very old detector.
IMHO without GPS The Valentine 1 IS OLD SCHOOL
Peace, Ben
Must have been Mike Valentine wife? Better to hang up and try again until a male answers.

I for one do not think the V-1 is old or outdated at all. I don't want GPS on my radar detector, I want it to do one thing the best it can! I don't want addded features that make it bigger or bulky.
Sorry that you had a bad experience but I have had multiple interactions with V-1 (and no I am not an employee either) and never had a problem. I didn't try to send anything back and hide it though either.
I wouldn't trade my V-1 for the newest anything.

Re: I took my Valentine Back
I think a radar detector without gps is getting to be old school. My main detector is the V1 and I recently got a 9500i and even though the V1 is still the best, gps is a must. I will not purchase a new radar detector without it. The V1 falses way too much and I can't wait to get a SC55 so I can shut this thing up. Yes I tried all the tricks in this forum and yes it has done a lot to quiet down my V1, thanks for the help.
Just the other day, I was driving with 3 other people in the car and as we drove around in the restaurant car parking lot, my V1 starts going crazy and the comment was "what the hell was that? there's no speed trap in the parking lot, lol. a lot of good that does!" I knew the deal....but I was still embarrassed. No reason for a radar detector to blast full alerts at the highest volume going 5 mph.

Haha Thanks for pointing that out NissanA...bksnoopy I read the same damn thing in multiple threads, chill the f*ck out. Ok V1 gave you ****ty service, sorry to hear that. But you don't need to post it in 30 different threads. Go with and escort or beltronics if you want a more quiet RD. V1 is not meant for cities in my opinion, only Highway use for myself. I think we all need to relax a bit, everyone is taking this way too seriously. Have a smoke, a drink, and relax.

I will bet you anything this all started with a phone call to Valentine and foul lanuage was used and thus the so called hang up.

Correct! The thread starter going to get just deserts with that 9500.:)
Also WTH's going on with Mike V's wife? This is the sort BS that comes from bell boys. First of all would we all agree that Mike V has a bit of cash in his pocket right. So how the hell do these complete mono cells come to the conclusion that Mrs V' spends her days answering phone calls from no necks like bksnoopy. It's amazes me this dude thinks the V1's old school what's that all about?
and my brain to the left is nothing to do with self proclaimed knowledge it's all about the little people doing it. Open your eyes and you will see.

When those in a debate resort to ad hominem it only serves to highlight possible weakness in their position. Sort of like Al Sharpton calling someone a racist or a liar automatically when he doesn't agree with them.

The guy just sent back the best windshield RD made. Unless the Redline proves that it is better. I hope that he will be happy with the IX.

Why don't you go Christmas shopping and get away for awhile. Don't let forums make you so angry.

Re: I took my Valentine Back
Lets make this simple, a RADAR detector detects radar right? Right. It does not matter where it is coming from, as long as it is true radar that is what it will detect, be it from doors, banks or cops.
There is no such thing as a cop detector ok. The V1 does not false, actually it is the least false prone detector to date, you can run pop on and with the new ones you will rarely get a Junk signal, falsing means reporting a signal the is not radar (like other leaky detectors, radio towers, cellphone towers, etc), so in that sense the V1 is least false prone. Don't believe me, turn pop on any whistler or belscort and run them, I bet it will alert to pop or pulse from non radar sources more then a v1 will.
