I would leave laser on. True without a jammer you will freak out, and slam the breaks, but the V1 has great laser scatter capabilities, and could even warn just a few seconds before hand.

If you do get caught they take your jammer and give you a $50 fine. So it's defiantly worth having a IL, just get down to PSL and kill the jammer let them get a speed and you are fine.

Most members here run either a Blinder laser jammer or a Laser Interceptor laser jammer. The L.I. is more expensive but is a little better jammer and has some cool features.

    IL Laser Jammer Law

Sec. 12-613. Possession and use of radar or laser jamming devices prohibited.

    (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), a person may not operate or be in actual physical control of a motor vehicle while the motor vehicle is equipped with any instrument designed to interfere with microwaves or lasers at frequencies used by police radar for the purpose of monitoring vehicular speed.

    (b) A person operating a motor vehicle who possesses within the vehicle a radar or laser jamming device that is contained in a locked opaque box or similar container, or that is not in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, and that is not in operation, is not in violation of this Section. (c) Any person found guilty of violating this Section is guilty of a petty offense. A minimum fine of $50 shall be imposed for a first offense and a minimum fine of $100 for a second or subsequent offense.

    (d) The radar or laser jamming device or mechanism shall be seized by the law enforcement officer at the time of the violation. This Section does not authorize the permanent forfeiture to the State of any radar or laser jamming device or mechanism. The device or mechanism shall be taken and held for the period when needed as evidence. When no longer needed for evidence, the defendant may petition the court for the return of the device or mechanism. The defendant, however, must prove to the court by a preponderance of the evidence that the device or mechanism will be used only for a legitimate and lawful purpose.

    (d) A law enforcement officer may not stop or search any motor vehicle or the driver of any motor vehicle solely on the basis of a violation or suspected violation of this Section.

How could it be worth having if they take my $2500 jammer plus $50 fine? Are there other hidden costs of getting a ticket I'm not seeing?

    Laser jammers don't cost $2500.

As long as you use your jammer correctly, no LEO should suspect you of jamming. If jammers are illegal in your area, this shouldn't hold you back from getting one because speeding is illegal too. So, you either choose to speed and get a jammer or you don't get a jammer and simply slow down. There are no alternatives for a defense against police laser.

Go to the Laser Interceptor site and search for: "Laser Interceptor HP Quad"
Lets say $700 then, is it still worth the loss of $700 + $50 fine???

Better yet, if you're really concerned about cost, and don't care so much about performance, RMR makes a really nifty radar/laser detector/jammer clothes washer/hair dryer combination. Buy one cheap, mount it on your windshield pointing up to the sky, and speed right through town at PSL+30, untouchable.

    (Kidding, kidding...)

Seriously, nothing good is cheap. That's why a V1 is a great deal, at $400. I'd also recommend a Concealed (remote) Display, with Languy99's color mods. I'm finding that makes it whole bunches easier to read the display in the blink of an eye.
