Just Ordered a Valentine One Detector

Just got off the phone w/ valentine research.

I ordered a "returned" unit with latest software- It should arrive this friday or next monday...

I'm really looking forward to it, as it's my first radar detector!

Your first RD is supposed to be a cheap POS Cobra...............then a halfway decent Whistler...........then (after a couple years) a Top shelf detector!

Now your going to EXPECT great detection all the time.

I mean, come on, who learns how to drive on a Porsche!

LOL That was my exact thought process. At first I wanted to spend $100, then I thought I should spend at least $150 to get something decent. (Another $150 away from the Valentine) Then, I thought I'd likely get a ticket and approx. $350 later, I'd buy a good one (i.e. Valentine ONE).

It only seems logical to buy a quality detector up front...

I made this mistake, except I went in reverse order on the Whistler and then Cobra Finally got smart back in 1998 w/my V1 purchase.
