    Default Should I upgrade?

Here are the specs from my V1

V1 Description: Radar circuitry known in-house as V1.7 gives good performance on all radar bands. Also, it remembers your "mode" setting when shut off. Laser warning is front-only.

Upgrade Recommendation: This version is not quite up to today's V1 standard for Ka, though it's always better than detectors from other makers. X and K performance is excellent. But the many improvements made since this V1 was new tip the balance in favor of upgrading. Crystal-controlled frequency tuning of later V1's safeguards coverage at the edges of the radar band. Plus you'll get our latest laser warning (front and rear), which outperforms the competitors by a wide margin, LEDs for band identification, and POP Protection. Also, you'll get the Euro Mode, Traffic Monitor Filter to eliminate K-band false alarms caused by SpeedInfo, a traffic-flow monitoring system that sends frequent K-band radar bursts into the traffic stream, and ESP (Extended Serial Protocol).

I wanted to know if I should upgrade for or wait? By wait I mean I would hate to do this upgrade if they are releasing a new version of the unit? Anyone know if they plan to redesign the unit anytime soon?

I say upgrade now. Not sure what else you could be possibly holding out for. What will the upgrade price be for a 1.7 model?

They just released new updates, now is the time to update your V1. If you are waiting for a whole new design, you will be waiting a long time.

The upgrade price for my unit is 279 plus shipping and they said I would get a brand new unit rather than upgrading my current one.

I assumed they might not be releasing a new unit because then the old ones would not be upgradable and that is the point behind the V1 if I am correct. Would be nice if firmware updates could be done from home rather than sending them in.

Hmmmm...$279 vs $399? That's allot of beer money!

For that cost, I would sell your V1 and buy a brand new one. You should still be able to get top dollar for the V1.

I will get a brand new one if I upgrade they have told me. If I sell it I would not get the amount needed to buy a new one.

right but if u manage to sell ur V1 for like 290 or 300+ then you would only put out 100 bucks of your own money for it not the entire 279. Now that holds only if u mange to sell it pretty high.
