I tried to hardwire my 98 accord this weekend and failed. i was wondering if anyone has done it and could possibly provide me with a walk through. Pics would be a great help also.
Thanks

Alright, I don't know why my post didn't take the first time but i'll try this again.
It's fairly easy to get power from the fuse blocks on either side of the dash, behind the cover by each door. (I used the driver's side.) Get 12v+ power either with a fuse tap or by carefully wrapping the bare wire around the blade of a fuse (find a switched power source with a multimeter) and pushing it back in place. If you go the wire-wrapping route, make sure that the bare wire doesn't touch anything else, especially the other blade of the fuse. You can ground the other wire to a bolt by unscrewing it a bit, wrapping the wire, and tightening it back down. Use the multimeter again to find one that is actually grounded to the chassis.
I routed the wire to the main unit up the A-pillar by carefully pulling the trim out of its clips just far enough to get the wire in. It can be routed through the headliner to wherever you have the V1 stuck to the windshield. You also have the option of routing over the visor if you are using the visor clip. (I posted a thread about that a while back with pictures...I can find it if you want to try that.)
How you route the wire for the remote display, if you have one, depends on where you intend to mount it.
I had the radio out on my 02 accord so I tapped into the switched power for it... I routed the wire the same way he described.
I've been experimenting with mounting locations for the remote display, but I can't find one that is in my line of sight and easy to reach to mute.
thanks for teh input, i was wondering if anyone has pics of an install. also i tried hardwiring it into the maplight setup and was wondering if anyone had done this and had some success doing this.
I just had the dash apart this weekend and could have taken pictures for you...
You probably could pull power off of the map lights if you can get in there. However, I don't think they are switched on and off with the ignition, so you'd have to remember to manually turn off the detector.
yea the only thing im not clear on is
how to hide the wire
and exactly how to connect the wire to the fuse
i guess that pretty much everything haha thats why i was hoping for pictures.
i tried wiring to the maplight setup and could not find any power out of any of the lines that were there.
