Band defeat=increased response?

I was wondering....I turn off X-band on my valentine one simply because they don't use it where I live and travel between GA and Tenn. Do you think having a band turned off will give the detector more time to search for other bands; possibly increasing the response time on other bands like K and KA? Just something I always wondered.

i was wondering about this as well

i thought i detected K band a bit better when i turned off X, but i also mounted the V1 higher so that could have affected detection as well

No. X-Band is so narrow, only 50 MHz wide, that it won't make any kind of noticable difference, since K is 200 MHz wide and superwide Ka is 2600 MHz wide.

Also, generally "response time" on K and Ka bands doesn't depend as much on the sweep speed, but rather the filter algorithms that are in place where a signal must be present for a number of ms for an alert to be reported.

Do have any idea how long it takes for the V1 to do one complete sweep of all the frequencies? I've always wondered this.

Thanks for the quick responses guys! I just got the latest Valentine One. I have a previous non-pop valentine one in 2004, but it got stolen here about a month ago along with my car..lol. Recovered my car with only the tires missing. Had to buy a new Valentine One. Can you live with having the Pop mode turned on in revision 3.826? I've herd KA falsing has been much improved, but K is still a problem correct? Just got the current V1, so I have even yet to test it out. I felt so naked driving home from college without my old v1 since it got stolen. drove for 6hrs round trip on the interstate without a radar detector. I was looking constantly for cops...I nearly got nabed once for doing 12 over the limit for passing. First time without one for many years.

I believe < 200ms, and maybe as low as 120ms. V1 sweeps K and Ka simultaneously receiving them using the different mixer products (USB,LSB). But, it is also hitting some of the frequencies more often, such as K-Band and 33.8, so that it can catch the short 67ms POP bursts.

Holy crap! :shock:
My Pro 96 scanner can scan 75 frequencies per second and I thought that was fast.
I'm not sure what the steps are between channels, but that has got to be at least 400 frequencies in less than a quarter of a second....no??
