    I still recommend just using the regular dc plug when running the detector. I have had some wacky things and some serious things go wrong with hardwiring. If you want you can route the cord pretty sleek through the dash vents etc and into the cig lighter Its up to you. If its up ones crawl then go for the hardwire. Its your choice.

    That cord will only work with other Whistlers as far as I know.

    Interestingly the packaging on my 1793SE refers to it as SWS but the detector refers to it as SR.
