If the officer was using instant-on in this scenario, that might be another matter. In that case, you would hope that the officer hits someone ahead and that the vehicle he hits is large enough to send a nice radar reflection back to your detector
    Thanks!

Yeah, it definitely would be a very urgent alert to respond do, and I would expect a very abrupt ramp-up to indicate it, too.

Also, did you guys test any "lower" detector models with this worst-case test (even informally). I would expect those results to be even more horrendous

Default Pro 78 & Xtr 690 owners look!!!

    To everyone,

One thing that caught my eye on the Guys of Lidar March 2007 testing was how stealthy the Whistler XTR-690 was compared to the other radar detectors tested. Other than Beltronics STI, which wasn't detectable the XTR-690 was detected at a distance of 265 feet better than any other detector tested even the more expensive Beltronics and Escorts.

The one thing about this puzzles me if the Whistler Pro78 and XTR-690 are made off the same platform with slightly different features, I would think the RDD distances between the two would have been closer. Maybe RadarRoy, The Veil Guy and Guys of Lidar could collectively use their Spectre 3's to test Radar Detector Leakage on the high end Bels. Esorts, Valentine 1 and the Whistler Pro78, XTR690. It's impressive to me that these 2 units from Whistler bested higher end units on leakage. Any thoughts or suggests gladly accepted.

That's why I LOVE my Pro-78. Damn near the performance of a Top Five at half the price.

Can't wait till I get my XTR-690 back from Mike B. Driving just isn't the same without it
