IMO, in Ontario, in almost all cases, the traps are set up to take down the person who is speeding AND
not paying attention.

I have detected Ka on the 401 as well. The range was probably around 500 feet but they were just setting up and the gun was just being mounted on the tripod.

Tripod?? I've never seen radar mounted on a tripod on the 401. Are you sure it wasn't laser? I've seen tripod mounted laser on the 401. And yes, the stretch between Kingston and Belleville is a major speed trap area as well as a Spectre area.

I don't think I've ever seen a tripod mounted radar anywhere. Keeping in mind much of what I've heard from others here, it's very likely the guy was using laser on the tripod but left the Ka turned on in the cruiser

The STI told me it was Ka. There were a couple cruisers lined up further down the road.

Sounds to me they were using Laser and the units down the road are the chase cars :!:

Interesting stuff. Many hypothesize that anything sensitive enough to pick up the Sti would false like crazy in a real world environment.
