Yea man, mine has the same issue - altho it does save my ass (no tickets yet ) any money says i just jinxed myself there LOL most the leo's i find radring seem to be giving off low frequencys farthest hit i got was about 1-1/2 mile KA band was using C/O comming at me he was in a lower half of a valley behind some woods after a bend in the road. The closest was a cop using KA I/O 1/4 to 1/2 mile away over some hilly terrain. Altho I do believe I got a STRONG signal while I was crusing on some country roads drove about mile and still had the signal then I turned off and went in a different direction (towards work) and it dropped, I never had a visual on the leo.

I love my STI, it works great! Of course, I am comparing it to my Bel895. I got about 1/2 mile last night on 35.5 Ka band that was around a bend. I thought that was pretty good.

I keep mine mounted up high. I hardwired it into my interior lights. And it sits just at my tint line. No issues. I leave X band off as 99.9% of the non-false alerts are k and ka around here. I drive 50 miles one way to work

Hills, corners, trees, cars ,buildings etc have alot to do with it. I have driven in Va and alot of your roads are windy and hilly. Its normal to get only a few seconds alert in these areas and 1/2 mile is average, and sometimes shorter. The places I get over 2 miles of alert are areas you can see line of sight for nearly that distance. If I get a 4 mile alert the LEO has to be sitting still shooting directly in my direction and I can see half of that distance ie flat area.

The STI works best on hills on 35.5,34.7 in my comparison to the V1and everything else I have compared too..I own them both, and both have their weaknesses.

I really like the Bel STi and it most of the time impresses me against on and off axis ka band.

For those who know Richmond, they were really working 288 tonight. There were three of them. I swung around to test my STI again one of them and got .5 miles around the curve. Then I went up against another one of a straight away and got 1.5 miles. All were Ka 35.5
