It doesn't say "magnesium construction" on it for nothign dude. Run some tests/diags on it for the next few days. If it's not displaying "SERVICE" at any point and your tests are good, your detector should be in just fine shape.

If it was the V1 that took the same impact, that would be a different story.

ture i never new that i fort it was because of the low noise amp antena but yep the magnesium case sounds about right too

x2, I think the car was damaged by the STi

At any rate, just watch out for any service required or self-cal messages in the near future. Normally an odd self-cal once a year or two isn't too bad, but in your case, you might want to send it in if you get one, simply because of your using it as a battering ram inside your vehicle.

PS: kaptz, nice to see you posting.
Think i should report the damage to the police? Might be an insurance claim.

If so, ask Bel to send you a replacement display cover. It is easy to replace, but you will need a #9 torx screwdriver, and you will need specific instructions from me about how to replace it while avoiding the possibility of damage due to static electricity. Just send me a PM once you get the new display cover and I will PM you back with specific instructions.
No it was the plastic lens covering the gauges on my car that cracked. The STI is fine and still works great. No self-cal messages yet...

My STi took a very short fall from my windshield to my center console when the suction cups failed. It must have hit just right and landed on the power button. After the short fall the power button was broken and the STi would not turn on. I had to send it to Bel to have it repaired. Everyone says the STi is built like a tank (and it appears to be built like one to me too) so I was surprised that short of a fall and it landing on a plastic console broke it.

My suction cups fail all the time too. You would think with the weight of the sti bel would provide a better suction cup than the crappy ones supplied that are the same as all the other rd's.
